as with all American vehicles. if it's going slowly in a straight line, it can look good. anything else, and its not.

these wranglers were designed to be made into radio controlled jeeps. for kids!

look at these real ones...

Ha ha, if they did a 4x4 version if be tempted to give it a go as I think this year I might do some banger green landing and even a Subaru justy looks like it might make the list as a laugh lol FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Here's my 2000 XJ that I acquired this week for not alot of £notes - got 83k on it, 2 previous owners, service history and motd and taxd till November. Needs a few jobs doing, including new rear springs. Bought it for a job I'll be on for 6 weeks where I need 4x4 and didnt want to abuse the FF. At the end I'll other do some mods and use for off roading or sell it on again.

Is it the straight 6 engine?

I've seen a few WJ's with the 4.7 V8 about at auctions now so thinking of plomping for one of them, bit more space and luxury for not much more and a little bit heavier and still a good amount of mods for them. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I wish.......... going to be doing a good few miles so its a 2.5td - takes an age getting up to 60mph and wouldnt want to do any quick overtaking, once its there its not too bad - averaging 37mpg though so cant have it all I spose.

Good thing as they are veg friendly, just make sure you keep a spare idler pulley ok hand. The local off road club I go leaning with all love their XJ's and most are diesels so they have plenty of spare parts and keep one and a spare belt on hand. Lucky as when doing the coast 2 coast last year one needed it and only have some squeaks a few miles before totally dying. I think one is a 4.0 with LPG conversion as well.

They go for buttons these days and are very good offroad due to weight and having a rear LSD fitted.

If you want more grunt then adjust the off post fuelling and wind the turbo up a bit Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Thanks for the tip - didnt realise veg oil was an option. I am very tempted to keep it and give it a 3" lift and some decent off road tyres and use it for off roading, most folk in the club up here have defenders or discos but I cant justify the money required to buy a defender.

Have a look for Manchester Offroad Club and see them all there Smile

They used to use sj's but moved to the XJ's a while back after trying defenders and so on. There is the odd disco but they always throw some issue up and don't have any locking front or rear diffs as standard Sad FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I am painfully aware of that! Running an old Disco as a weekend off-roader is far more expensive that a FFRR as a daily driver. Shocked Big Cry

Mind you, there isn't a lot of choice here. Defenders are out of the question, TJ/CJ/Wrangler often seem to be abused, modded out of all recognition, or both.
