How to welcome new members to the forum and demonstrate it's a friendly place. [/sarcasm]

Just for the record my personal view is that this is abominable behaviour towards a new member, and conducted in open forum too. This should have been a PM based exchange both to the OP and the new member.

Honestly, this place is getting worse than Landyzone, and it's not like the place is exactly flushed with members. I thought it was supposed to be fun but it's rapidly becoming far too German; more rules than members.

Are we sure the site sponsor has raised it or complained ? I have always found Stan to be pretty level headed regarding his role on here.

On the face of it, it appears Stan acted when kev joined up, as it is indeed against forum rules for non site sponsors to be promoting their own business within the forum.

The bit that seems to be the grey area here is that Kev is not promoting his own business, another member posted a link to a single set of parts for sale on the bay, which is why I felt I had to post earlier, on what is more a technical matter regarding rule interpretation.

It will be a shame if we lose face here. Prob best concluded off thread - please let us know the outcome.

Guys, remember to keep things calm please. Any issues should be raised with me rather than having it out on the forum.

There are commercial posting restrictions here and there have been since day zero - there is nothing new and they certainly aren't being applied more rigorously because of ANY external pressure whatsoever. Stan is just doing the job I ask him to do (applying the forum's rules fairly) - if you have a problem with him doing that then take it up with me.

I'm not suggesting there is any foul play in this case; but most of you will know that there have been occasions across the sites over the years where businesses have tried to undermine the posting restrictions in order to profit for free.

It's easy for actions to be taken the wrong way and I would urge people to look at things from Stan's perspective every so often please.

Stan should be applauded for his tireless hard work and dedication to the running & good order of the forum.

I am sure that many will agree, that without his good humour, vast knowledge and feedback, the forum would deffo not be such a great place to be IMHO.

Paulmoran I agree.
Stan has a certain feeling for humor, must be a site addict, a retired non gardener, must have non demanding wife and children, a car that needs nothing and a dog that is so small it can P in the house, otherwise he could not do what he does for the forum.
