I know it is wrong however I am a Luddite when it comes to maintenance, so will take any negative comments

The question is this, my TD6 was fully recommissioned a year ago after sitting for 12 months with what turned out to be a dodgy instrument cluster, anyway c. 10,000 miles and a year later I thought I would check the oil, used nothing, still sitting a tad below max. Is this normal for the engine or am I missing something, any comments appreciated

Its is a 2004 and has done 115K miles

P.S. It tows 2.5 tonnes every second weekend at up to 700 miles

Mine has done 126k now.

Oil level never moves.......nor water.

Cheers mjdronfield, I just found it unusual, only checked as I am rubbish at maintenance and felt sorry for it

I do still check mine during the year between services though.

The car generally says about 13k miles until the next service, but I change my oil and filter every 4 to 5 k, as that could be 12 months motoring for me.

Agreed, i dont stress it apart from the towing but just thought it would have used some in 12 months, have had it for 8 years and its part of the furniture not the prettiest but does the job
