Electric tow bar

Has anyone else got this option who can tell me if mine is broken or I am not operating it properly. When I press the on/off switch in the boot (ignition off) I do not get a green light to say it is on. Is there anything special I should do, it doesn't seem so according to the manual.

There are two switches. One to turn the tow bar mechanism on and another to swing it in or out. You are meant yo press one to turn it on and then the other to swing it out. When I press the on switch I do not get a green light to say it is on and the deploy switch does nothing.

Mine seems to work fine as per handbook - tested it again this morning > on/off switch > green light > deploy/stow button. Not sure I'm getting what I would call 'warning tones' - more heavyweight motor sounds of movement and reassuring clunk when it's in place! Trailer electrics socket also there but haven't tested that wiring yet. Guess if you're not getting green light then refer to dealer?

No. This was the first time I tried it. If I have the ignition on I get a red LED showing on the on/off switch so there seems to be power to the switches but other than that nothing.

thinking outside the box here, is the the engine running when you try cos it might need full voltage to operate.. ... - .- -.

You can now buy a non electric towbar for the L405 which is about time, forcing owners to spend the £800 on build for the electric one was a bit of a con.

Even Paddocks sell the kit now.

The red light is on the on/off switch if the engine is running or ignition is on. I assumed this was to tell you the tow bar would not deploy in these circumstances as the instructions say to do it with the ignition/engine off. Anyway booked into the dealer tomorrow so we shall see.

I keep reading a few niggles on the L405. I know it could be expected on a new vehicle but not on a £90k car ? Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

Well the factory fit one for the l322 was a £500 option so another £300 for electric operation is fair I think. It is very neat (invisible), a few seconds to deploy rather than a lot of messing about like the with the l322 one and it is also very cool for those who like gadgets - so not a con at all I think.

I have the deployable towbar and it is worth every penny. Especially if you ask the cost of a retro-fit genuine one at he dealer.
