Drive Selector issues again

Within the first week of delivery I had issues with the drive selector not popping up, spent 3 weeks at the dealers while they waited for the part to arrive as the whole unit had to be replaced because the software update did not resolve it.
2 months on and its playing up again, start vehicle and it comes up, second later goes back down, then up then down and stays down. Several restarts and it stays up, so frutrating - anybody else still having issues after the updates to the software?

Chris

No issues with this yet but I wish there was a way to make the damn thing stay up permanently. It is so slow. I want to start the engine and select gear straight away not wait for the stupid controller to rise. This really is form over function and they should put a proper lever in like the Sport in future updates or if they want to keep the clean lines then a few buttons would be a better alternative.

It is a hateful thing. Whoever thought of it should be marched out and pelted with rotten fish.

It has no advantages and loads of downsides. I'd prefer buttons like on the Aston.

It is one of the reasons for not changing to a 405 yet, it is the wrong thing in the wrong car, it is slow, it is not intuitive, its too small its in the wrong position, it should be on a washing machine not a Range Rover. As the sport has a stick why can't it at least be an option on a FF. letters not necessarily in the right order

Too slow? Surely by the time you have your seatbelt on and have checked the mirrors etc it's up and ready? Mine doesn't bug me (405 or 322) and it is paddles when on the move. 2019 D5 HSE Lux SDV6 Indus

It is slow to pop up (though acceptable) but it is the lack of reference. You really need to look down to check what you are doing. A gearstick has immediate positional sense. - drive, neutral, reverse. There is very little of that with the rotary controller.
The fact that the pop up mechanism can / will fail is just the icing on a rather poorly though out cake.
Form over function. And none the better for it.

Everything below dash height should be feel informative, a manual shift is thumb up thumb down. This hatefull little device pandas to the play station generation. If it is decided that this is a function that is totally electronic then why such a half harted job, why leave it on the transmission tunnel and why have a rotary dial that hides down a hole when the engine is off. letters not necessarily in the right order
