TD6 Glow Plug Relay

I'm 99% sure but just wanted to run it by the masses first!!!
She's been struggling to start of late but more so when it's warm and up to temp. The fault code description I get is glow plug relay failure/inopparable hence I'm pretty sure of the problem but just in case a few other opinions would be great!

Many thanks.

I'll let you know if this is the case once I have finally completed a glow plug swap over (see my other threads on this)

You can check if the relay is clicking by opening the bonnet and listening for a loud click from the big black box as someone else activates the ignition. ( If you remove the lid you can put your finger on top of the relay to feel it click.

Of course this doesn't mean it is working.

If you are having starting problems when the engine is warm, it is unlikely to be related to glow plugs, more likely fuel delivery, e.g. blocked injector etc. I understand these are even harder to remove than the glow plugs! .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

My car starts almost instantaneously every time - except when it's very cold - e.g colder than -6°C, when it really takes some chugging over.

I clearly have a glow plug issue which I need to resolve. I don't know how many are not working. My point is I'm not sure how much working glow plugs are needed to start an engine unless it's very cold.

I had read through your threads Joe and they were very helpful. I'll need to test the relay.
I don't think it's a fueling issue as all the pumps have recencently been done and I've just run through high end injector cleaner. It runs perfectly once started too.
I had assumned the fault code would have been the final indication.

Mine was terrible for hot starting until it wouldn't start at all. Ran fine once started. A new injector sorted it.

Cheers for that Kurt. Might have to pull the injectors.
It's just strange that it's not logging any codes for the injectors.

Maybe time for a leak off test?

Yeah that's what I'm thinking.
