Restricted performance?

HI all
Some help please, my friend is on his way over to see us in his 2012 4.4 TDV8.(only 24k on the clock)
He just filled up with diesel, got back on the motorway, cruising at about 85mph, and the restricted performance message popped up, he pulled over at the next garage, switched off, waited 15 minutes, fault cleared, set off again, got up to 80mph and fault appears again, cannot exceed 2000rpm, any ideas? He is pretty worried, as a long way from home.

Cheers Stan
Is there anything he can do, rather than try to get it into a French dealer?

the dealer will do a diagnostic on it and that should identify the exact fault.... ... - .- -.

my dealer was giving out a LR Leaflet with every service explaining if this happened to take it on a high speed journey and boot it to clear and regenerate the DPF, obviously this wouldn't work with a split or displaced turbo hose.

Apparently it is caused by driving very slowly like a fart
