rear camera on an 03 FF

For the ones who have done this mod on pre touch screen, Im thinking of fitting a rear view camera to the FF and just asking if all I need is these...

http://www.toysinyourcar.com/acatalog/rng_av_cam.html

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290958436903?ru=...26_rdc%3D1

and a switch

I have loads of wiring and relays.

I had thought of having the cam on a switch so it could be used any time not just in reverse...and to be honest I don't need the cam every time I reverse the RR so really a switch would be better.

I HAVE seen the threads on rear cams pre 06 but all seem to work on reverse selected ( except Joe90's long thread Thumbs Up ) I was going to fit a switch like the PDC, DSC switches? so it looks standard on the dash.
Looks easy enough to fit. If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

Well looking into this more I'm scrapping the above idea, far to much time in comsuming and fiddly Laughing
I think going down the wi-fi camera route and using the smart phone as the monitor is far easier and far more versatile for the amount of cars we have to tow with. Thumbs Up If it dont work.......burn it!

Yes, technology is moving so fast there has to be a better way without all the wires. A battery powered IP camera might do it. Perhaps even a trip to the Spy Shop in London, they might have something suitable? If one could only get a good viewing position for a camera/s from inside the cabin..... .

most home IP cameras are 12 volt driven so Tims idea would work, or there are loads of wifi/BT cameras with dedicated mini monitors on ebay that will do the trick.. ... - .- -.

I saw these 2 and thought that's easier to wire up, even if you fit a cigarette plug and fit into the sockets in the rear of the ff or any of the cars we have its then not tide up to one car, you could even fit it to the rear of trailers with a bit of work.

Very good Thumbs Up Wonder why the second one is only Android? Simply because of the app required to display the images? Got me thinking I could use my carpc as a wireless access point for displaying on front screen Smile .

I fitted a camera years ago using the toysinyour car loom. Works well. I have yesterday fitted a cam to another car using a 2.4ghz transmitter, and it works amazingly well to her the signal from the bumper to the camera input....

The advantage of having it triggered by the reversing switch is that you dont have to do anything, it just works. You can still have a switch to put it on when not in reverse if you want. It's fun watching how much spray your throwing out the back on a rainy day Smile 2003 4.4 V8 Vogue

not keen on the inter-grated number plate light ones=they give an uneven light patten on the rear plate (anal i know)
