Isn't that the new Freelander or Disco? I think any Jag references might be a smoke screen I have seen some early renderings of the Jag soft roader and it more rounded than that . 2008 MY Supercharged

It's an XQ nose on an Evoque/Baby Disco shell, to give them a mule with the correct packaging around the engine, including cooling pack, etc.

I thought it was quite big in the flesh. Wasn't that keen on Jaguar going down that route, but then I didn't like them building cars smaller than the XJ.

Yes it was, not helped by the motoring press of the time still being of a "bash the UK industry" mindset and wouldn't let its Mondeo origins go. There was very little money available from Ford to engineer a whole new mini-Jag from scratch.

Journalists now understand vehicle platform engineering a little (very little) Rolling Eyes

I've driven one, it wasn't a great car. I think the Mondeo was better - but I haven't driven one of those.

Ford just didn't understand Jaguar, or understand premium.
