Sorry Ray, got confused, because Chris has just joined the forum and has a grey AJV8 on lpg. I thought he chose a name not to be recognized.

Do you know how Chris is finding his LPG conversion? Some people say that you should have flashlube on the AJV8, mine doesn't, but Andy at Professgas seems to thing you only need this if you have the 4.2 S/C.

Well...Chris hasn't got flashlube now for 70K miles, car has done 75 in total. He is very happy with it, so happy that he sold it to me
I'm awaiting the car somewhere in 10 days and I am just asking myself, should I retrofit flashlube or not. At CLS (the installer) they say that they do it now standard, but they don't see a real reason to retrofit it with the BRG systems.
I have had a FFRR 2002 with LPG (BMW engine) before and that was no problem at all.
Now I have another 2002 here on petrol and I'm going to (try to) sell it somewhere next week and will drive the AJV8 on lpg.

the costs for a retrofit are 290£ btw;

I would imagine that if the car has done 70K without the flashlube, it is probably going to be OK - I would have thought that if there were going to be problems with valve seat regression they would have become apparent by now.

I would imagine the AJV8 is an 'older' engine than the 4.2 S/C, which seems to suffer problems, so maybe they have different (harder) valve seats like the BMW engine.

Anyhow, if you are getting the car in 10 days or so, I'm sure you will love it

Well the old barge has been picked up this morning for it's conversion.

Apparently a Zavoli system with 95L tank going in. Should have it back Wednesday or Thursday.

More good news is LPG is now 64p/L at the local supplier.

Fingers crossed they don't make a hash of it.

I had a BMW 4.4 in my 2003 FFRR on LPG (Prins) which I ran faultlessly for 50000 miles. When I say "faultlessly", it is a FFRR. The "faultlessly" refers to the engine and LPG system.

At the time it was about £2500 for the conversion so needed around 14000 miles to pay for itself (the first year in effect). The BMW engine has hardened valve seats as standard so is the ideal engine to convert.

The AJV8 engines do not have hardened valve seats so either require replacement heads or Flashlube. Either way, if your mileage justifies the outlay, do it!!  2021 3.0 P400 Vogue

Well it's back and all done. The job looks very good indeed and service above and beyond from the installation company.
