What rating battery charger ?

I am having trouble again with my FF starting, let me down twice recently with a one year old Bosch S5 uprated battery fitted.
I realise the cause, I don't use the car often enough and then for short runs, e.g. picking the wife up from the station, two starts and 2 miles in between starts.
If I am going to keep the car I need to get into a battery charging routine.
The chargers I have are either very ancient or newer but small.
What recommendations are there for a 'quicker charge' charger that I can use on a regular basis ?
Would the Ring 20Amp from Halfords at £79 do the job ?

Buy a CTEK.

You won't regret it.

Ctek MSX 7 is more than adequate.
Amazon have them for about £94.

I have got both.

I would recommend the MXS10 as it will charge the battery quicker. It is only a few quid more.

Get the lidl or aldi (can't remember which) for £12.95. It has an auto switch to trickle mode when the full charge is reached as well as an auto off capability if it detects anything wrong such as a surge etc.

The other alternative is to put a second battery in the rear left cubby hole in the boot where the removable towhook goes. I have this and never get drained. Thumbs Up

I have the ctek Mxs 7 and am more than happy.

Didn't want the extra lead floating about that detects temperature on the mxs10. Looks like it would get in the way. More than happy to press a button if it's cold.....

ctek mxs 5 Thumbs Up

Charges everything in sight, even our big batteries

Probably finished now but there was a group buy over on the Disco forum offered up by Martin (£60) .

Thanks to everybody, a CTEK it is then, probably the larger one as it would charge the battery quicker when it fails to start.
I notice you can connect a couple of permanent leads to the battery with a socket to plug a CTEK into.
This would mean I would still have to park the car in the drive facing the garage and mains socket.
Has anybody got any more convenient solutions ? like plugging into the 12V socket in the boot after making it permanently live or something ? I have seen the method of connecting to a towing socket, but I don't have a tow bar fitted.

Martin once posted a link to something perhaps on the Disco 3 forum, where you used a towbar electric socket, if you have a towbar that is. I don't.

Here it is ;

After further searching on this site, I found this:
http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic23501....p;start=15
The main red lead in the fuse box in the right hand rear compartment seems to be the solution for charging convenience.
A Ctek ring terminal lead from the positive red terminal with an inline fuse and an earth connection, dropping down into the secret cubby hole below the fuse box would allow a Ctek charger to be left in place in the cubby hole.
The mains can then come in and plug in to the Ctek charger when required. Much better than facing the car in against the garage/mains socket with the bonnet partially open ?
Does this sound like a plan ?

Because I am sitting in the 'ex garage' typing this while surrounded by amplifiers, guitars and amplifier building paraphernalia. I built a small 'lobby' at the front behind the garage doors for my car and golf related collection.

Hi Steve and I have a dual battery set up i the rear of my RR and I have an Anderson plug wired up for both providing power out for running accessories and to allow charging to go in when needed but why not just go with one of Martin’s Tow Socket Charge Adaptors.

Can’t get a simpler set up and you don’t have to open or even unlock the RR to charge the battery.
