Superb have same DA . the megs 105 and 205 are the business next on my buy list.

I think....

Green is heavy cutting pad

Orange medium cut

Yellow polishing pad

Black finishing pad.

With the megs you will only need two pads the orange and the black for finishing. Also I would recommend changing the backing plates that come with the DA and opting for a flexi backing plate. Thumbs Up Present :2008 TDV8 HSE

Meguiars polishes are very good. The details about cut levels are on their website.

As for the pads, in all cases you will find the harder the foam then the more it cuts. Hard pads are for serious defects and soft pads are for finishing work. The ones with the pattern on them look to be Hexalogic pads which are very good indeed.

As a rule of thumb you would use the finest polish and the softest pad to start with. Do part of a panel to see the results. Make a decision from there on pad and polish combination depending on how many swirlies you need to get rid of.

3M do some nice flexible backing plates which I use on the Makita rotary machine. That does the bulk of my work but I do also have the G220 for stuff like plastic bumpers and the lower part of L322 doors. I use the standard backing plates with that though but if it's your only tool the flexible plates make life easier.

Get yourself over to youtube and look up Junkman2000 and watch his videos. Then go to your local car body shop and get a couple of scrap panels to play with. It is pretty easy.

Its got to be a a time/age thing. When I first started driving. 30 years ago. my car was immaculate. wash/t-cut etc pretty much everyday. Now with 4 kids, 9 horses, 4 dogs, a bloody cat and land to maintain, if I had a spare hour I would sleep Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I know a little bit, all I would say is never rush it or get dragged into speeding up the polisher if it's a variable...also keep the pads clean and don't let them drag the polish or heat it up.

I use the yellow mostly, but have today polished mine with 3M and finished it with 3M Glaze and a black pad.

Thumbs Up Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

I'm still reading and watching the vids, awaiting a break in the clouds to coincide with an afternoon off.

I need some more clay n lube, suggestions? I need something more aggressive to remove the black dots on the wheels, the ones you can pick off with your nail. Ian

I've got tardis, and sonax wheel cleaner that's similar to iron x. Still left with stubborn little feckers, you can pick them with your nail (if you know what I mean) but it would take forever. I'll try a firmer clay and see how that goes. Ian
