Added some DRLs

I've wanted to fit DRLs for a number of years as I feel they are a safety benefit. So when I got the latest FF, about a year ago, I started to look into doing it on this one. Followed the various threads re halo lights etc. but didn't really want to follow that option. I can't justify an IID tool at this time, and that only seems to allow the angel lights with reduced xenons in the middle. I would love just the angel lights, but much brighter, but that doesn't appear to be an option. I also wanted to keep my fog lights.

So I got a set of Osram DRLs from amazon. A little expensive yes, but includes everything you need and are definately OEM quality. The control unit does all the work just connecting to the battery (yes, direct to battery to know when engine on) and the sidelight wire. So very simple to fit. I have fitted them to the front tow eye cover and used Super Seal connectors for easy removal when towed. That way, if I want to put it back to factory for resale later, I just need to replace with a new cover.
Took couple of hours to do, mainly down to routing the cables. The control unit works well and dims the brightness when sidelights etc are on, so they don't dazzle in poor light.

Anyway to the pics...

Before...Just side lights/angel eyes

After...DRLs only

Just thought I'd share it with you all. I know they won't be to many peoples taste but I think they achieve what I wanted.

Nein, sorry.

As a matter or fact, you already have DLR in your headlights - that is enough.

I would have kept the £ towards a useful IID tool.

Do you have sbphoto where you connected to the battery. There is a difference between knowing your sh!t and knowing you're sh!t

That's a nice mod particularly if like me you have a pre 2010 RR. Driving around in daylight with dipped beam on can look a bit flash and sidelights can be a little too dim at times. DRL's certainly have their use.

As per rej and stan, do you have any additional pics or info.

As opposed to gluing some fairly lights to the front?

From the AA web site:

'Retrofitted daytime running lights should be installed so that they come on with the engine and go off when other lights are turned on.'

I got this little beauty off the bay yesterday / arrived today, so will be wiring it up to the fogs (that i've fitted LED units in to) over the weekend. £10 for the DRL switch and £45 for the LED fogs C/O Powerful UK. Wiring diagram also for you teckies.

Seems you can set up dimming of the DRL's to side, head or both activation.

I'll get some more pics on tomorrow morning if poss.

Stan, I didn't want to loose my fogs.
PaulT, Vosa allow if dimmed in conjunction with other lights. Many factory fit ones do this as you can see on road.
