Door Mirror Glass

The drivers door mirror glass had gone a horrible dark yellow colour which i was told was the Electrochrmatic breaking down, so ordered new glass which arrived today.

Any one know how the old one comes of? looking at the replacement it seems to twist but there are also some clips on there. Dont want to force the old one and break something else so any assitance would be appreciated.

Thanks

Insert 2 flat blades such as screw drivers under the mirror and gently prize it upwards, it will pop out of the retaining
clips. If you look at the back of your new mirror you will be able to visualise how it fits. I paid £185 for a new mirror
how much was yours.

Does the £55 mirror have the chromatic function which reduces glare when a car with fancy headlights is behind you, like maybe a FFRR?

Short answer no,
Long answer chromatic glass is a bronzy colour and about £140ish and standard heated glass is blueish and about £80 . 2008 MY Supercharged

Can you fit the electrochromatic mirror glass in place of the heated glass? (the reason I ask is that Sunday night I was passing a row of parked cars. There was a gap ahead of me so that I could pull in to let the boy racer coming towards me pass, but he decided he'd floor his accelerator and come straight at me, not giving me enough time to reach the gap to let him pass. End result, I had to get right over towards the left to avoid him hitting me, and my passenger door mirror glass is now toast and will need to be replaced). The (now shattered) glass I have is the heated variety, but I wouldn't mind fitting the dimming version if I can and it will work - don't know if the mirror body is different on the dimming version - if it is, I don't want to go down the route of replacing the entire mirror, I'll just get a new heated glass.

Grateful for any advice. Big Cry Big Cry

The chromatic mirrors work in conjunction with the chromatic rear view mirror, this would require a module/ecu for that feature. The fitting of a single chromatic mirror won't activate an option that isn't fitted. Ian

I have a photochromatic rear view mirror and power fold exterior mirrors fitted - looking in a 2004 price list a friend has lent me, the photochromatic exterior mirrors can only be fitted when the photochromatic rear view and powerfold exterior mirrors are specified, we have these but I am assuming there would need to be some kind of a feed to the exterior mirrors (over and above the feed to the heating elements, which I suspect is only 'live' for a short time when the temperature sensor can tell that it's cold outside?) 2006 (56 Reg) 4.4 V8 Vogue In Bonatti Grey (Gorgeous!!)
