I don't know a particular towbar specialist, but I (and a couple of other form members) use AJR Engineering in Oldham for servicing etc.

it sounds like it is a transposed wire in the adaptor which doesn't correspond to where constant live is on the FF white plug, personally would just get the ff converted to 13 pin, so much easier and buy a 13-7pin adaptor for trailers. As this gives an easier connection and does away with the adaptor. Not too expensive about £90 for the kit as you already will have the towing module.

As it feeds off the batt +ve if pin 4 on the car is dead ,check that no fuses are blown in the car around the towing relay area in the drivers side boot cubby,

a 13 pin socket is the way ahead!! they are easier to connect and are more secure too!! Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE
