Evening All,
My TD6 through its Fanbelt. On Going to replace it I noticed the Tensioner pulley and Guide pulleys had some play in them so I decided to change all of them with a Kit. This i did, Started her up ran fine on idle revved her up a couple of times then Bang!! .On Looking in saw the fanbelt off and the Viscious fan dropped into the rad cowling The Waterpump Shaft Sheared off level with the housing,the impeller spins as free as a bird so it doesnt seem to be seized??? .The Altenator and Power steering pump spin free when spun by hand also.
Im fitting a new Waterpump and fanbelt tomorrow ,But really Worried im back to square One with this???.

I hope so?? . and praying it is otherwise im lost! as i will have to replace it and run it up again.

Any idler pulleys which may have seized. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Changed them mate all come in the Gates Kit including the Fanbelt

The water pump may spin freely if the impeller had seized and then sheared . 2008 MY Supercharged

I don't tknow the td6, but could it be that the air con clutch came in, and the compressor is seized! try turning the inner part. there is a 12mm nut I think in the middle. should turn ok with belt on, etc.

if its your pump, maybe your engine has just dislodged kidney stone!
