2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Java Black

I can't stop going outside to look at it! The exterior is stunning, but the inside is world class.

The best way I can explain it is that it feels like a yacht inside the cabin. It is breathtaking the way the materials work together.

I'm honestly blown away.

I've had two or three 911's, a Bentley Continental GT, a Gallardo and loads of other stuff in the past and this is easily the best car in the world, pound for pound!

Get one!!

Struggling then! Lol

YJ,

Lovely looking beast there.

How do you find going to the TDV6 after the TDV8? (presume it was a 3.6)

We have a 4.4TDV8 and found the 3.0 (on test drive only) a bit under powered and noisy and it needed a bit of work to get it going. (I know there are threads on it but would appreciate your view given your recent change)

Cheers Thumbs Up

G

You know the ONLY thing I've found myself questioning is the grunt in the engine.

The V8 had that deep guttural oomph, especially when first started up. It sounded like a Range.

The V6 is very refined and smooth but there is no denying it isn't as deep as the V8.

Having said that, it's much more frugal on the juice which is nice and the power is there if needed.

I think it boils down to this... If you're someone who boots his motor you're probably gonna want the V8. Personally, for me, the Range is all about the ride and enjoying the view. I'm in no rush driving this thing because I'm still admiring the car so much I don't need to gun it.

Does that make sense?

Thank you for that. We did try a SemiSkimmed yesterday but the ride was way to harsh and the engine needed to be worked as well.

I don't tend to drive it like I've stolen it but the V8 just seemed to add to the waftness on the fullfat.

It is one of those things where the logic says 3.0. Cheaper tax, more consumption prob better residuals (looking at the GMFV figures) but the heart says V8 esp as we have had one for the past 3 years. It's one that even my man logic can't get right. I like the overall package of the V6 but my wife likes the V8 'proper engine'!

And it's also personal taste as well.....but given the waiting lists are about 10 months and they may release details of MY15 by the time we need to clarify an order, time is our friend.

Thanks again Thumbs Up

Surely the V8 with the 'proper engine' would be the SC then, given it gives the real perfomance & sound? Gone:

Well, we had a 4.2 s/c for a while and we couldn't really tell the difference between it and the 4.4 TDV8.

I did like the S/C whine at higher revs but the V8 diesel (to my ears) is pretty similar to the 4.2.

I know they have put in special exhaust things for the 5.0 to make it sound like the F type but it's a FullFat after all....

The 5.0 s/c is only available in the UK in AutoBio trim at just shy of £100K so about £30K more than Vogue 3.0.

I still think the 4.4 TDV8 is a proper engine but it is all personal taste. Thumbs Up

The SDV8 sounds pretty good for a Diesel!

There is no trick exhaust on the 5.0 FF it is us just very smooth and quiet. A bit too quiet in my view, barely any V8 rumble audible at all (the old 4.2 had more V8 character). The 5.0 RRS has a much better exhaust sound, closer to the sound of the Jags with the same engine. The diesel although well muffled in the l405 is still a diesel and there is no mistaking it inside or out for NVH.

Sorry, maybe I am being as thick as a whale burger, but given the previous comments I fail to see the relevance of this comment? Gone:
