Am enjoying the debate guys. Some interesting stuff about alternation of good cars though I must admit I always had a bit of a softspot for P38s.

At the Nantwich Show the other day there was an L405 Autobiography with POA on it, plus a new sport with a sticker price of around sixty grand. Both were utterly outclassed in terms of looks and interior feeling by the Galway Green AB S/C 2009 car nestled at the back. 23k miles, £36,000. No brainer to me. |

Used is almost always a no brainer. Thanks to depreciation, a FFRR can turn from a lottery wish to a reasonable buy in only a few years. |

The interior of the new L405 is brilliant, up to date and a real limo, but the outside is not so good. In my opinion the dreaded new Sport looks better from the outside....but no split tailgate, a major error by JLR. The L322 is a classic design, a great road car and also has stunning off road capabilities and much better looks. The new one seems too 'bling' worthy of the label 'Chelsea Tractor' unfortunately.

Very interesting thread fellow members. I'm not ashamed to say that I cannot afford to spend 85 - 100k on a car, but I've just spent a large figure (for me) on a beautiful 5.0 SC L322, late 2010. I also have an elder (2004) L322, which is also beautiful. I leave one at my office whilst using the other, and when I'm there, I'm usually able to park them next to each other. They are a stunning design, and six years apart, there's a real elegance about them both.

With all iconic designs the problem always evolves to what next? Arguably fellow users on the forum are not the target demographic for JLR and the L405 and some of the comments may be even welcomed by the design team.
