Trailer Brake controller.

Hi all, just wanted to know if the L405 has spare wiring connector under the steering wheel to connect trailer brake controller unit. I see on Ebay they sell controllers and wiring connectors to just plug and play, they do not mention if they are for the L405 Model.

Hello all, I have sourced the Brake control unit from Ebay It is Teckonsha Prodigy P3 plus a plug and play wiring adaptor cable it connects to a gray plug under the dash near the steering column. It takes about Five minutes to fit. really nice of JLR to put the spare connector under the dash nice and easy !

How do these brake controllers work ? In Europe it was a much different system with the brakes being engaged by a mechanical over run system and a spring loaded hand brake on the brake away cable . I really really don't like the chained trailers system here very dangerous and uncontrollable if the worst should happen 2008 MY Supercharged

HI Axle, the controller works on a electric braking system, the controller has a type of inertia pendulum system inside that feels the amount of braking done in the tow car and applies the brakes on the trailer proportionally to the amount the tow car is slowing down. So if you are slowing down for traffic lights it only applies a little braking or if you are stopping suddenly it can apply full stopping power to the trailer. If you go onto the Teckonsha web site it will explain in more detail. Most of the trailer brakes supplied here in Australia are made by a company called Alco they would supply 90% of the trailer braking systems here.
