United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Zermatt Silver

I've had two brand-new SDV6 Sport's for a week at a time when my S/C went back to the dealer for warranty work.

Both were nice, but I missed my S/C like mad. Even the dealers agree the S/C's are worth fighting over to take home for the weekend, even if they've no petrol in the tank. Si. <This is my name.

I eat rat poison.

Insurance company's idea of a comparable loaner car was a Mazda 2! Evil or Very Mad Horrid little thing was terrible rearward visibility. They apologized. I told them we would discuss any potential differences in insurance coverage costs between a FFRR and a Mazda 2 at renewal time... Whistle

Glad to hear its not just me them! I've had a Focus once before, and when the FFRR broke down before Christmas, LandRover Assistance "promised" a like for like, an Astra was then offered from Enterprise??!! Laughing
Eventually got an Evoque. Crying or Very sad

I think we have to remember that Dealership service/repair Courtesy cars are quite different to Land Rover Assistance Cars which are normally close to Like for Like as they are quite often Enterprise hire cars.

I just had a 2013 RRS HSE while a 2012 D4 HSE was in for fixing supplied by Enterprise. (Via LR Assistance)

If your car is within LR Warranty period then expect like for like (or close) if breakdown/Land Rover assistance but if you are simply servicing or paying dealer for maintenance then don't expect like for like as they will have a limited supply of courtesy cars and will not get a fleet of Range Rovers to lend to 10 year old Freelander owners...

Trick is always use LR Assistance when you are in warranty period Thumbs Up

Unfortuneatley, Enterprise had nothing close to my FFRR when I broke down. To be promised a like for like replacement vehicle from LR Assist, then have Enterprise offer an Astra is pretty poor. The only reason I got an Evoque was because I complained to LR Assist.

Fair enough if they've told you you'll get one class of car and then you get lesser (or maybe the Astra is better than the Evoque anyway! Wink ).

From experience I know that LRA/Enterprise will TRY to get you like for like but it obviously depends on what the local enterprise has sitting outside in the yard....

Knowing the dealer Principal as I do I get the choice of whatever I want. All he ever asks is that I give him enough notice to get hold of something suitable.

Most recent was the F-Type, before that I had a XK8, numerous XF's, a L405, couple of Evoques. I even had a Defender 110 a while back which was fun for a few days.

They do have a couple of Ford Mondeos but as he pointed out to me, these are reserved for customers (usually fleet drivers) who abuse them and take them back filthy with bits of chocolate ground into the seat fabric etc. The good stuff is lent to those of us who appreciate and take decent care of them.

Oh, and this is the same bloke who managed to find and lend me an Aston Rapide for my wife's 40th birthday. It pays to make a friend of your DP Smile

That's a few more courtesy cars than I'd hope to need the use of... & I guess I'll need to promise not to eat chocolate in a courtesy car again then Rolling with laughter

I get an Audi A4 Cabriolet 3.0 V6 (brmm brmm!) to play with every time I put mine up on the ramps Whistle

(Not been near a dealer for a few years now)

After being shunted (in the Audi), insurers gave me a BMW 330D as a like for like - YUK! .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

Well, he does service all my cars. It's a main Jaguar agent but they service the bike (Yamaha FJR1300), the D3, wifey's XF and my work hack, a humble Skoda Superb which goes in every 9 weeks for it's 10k service, currently on 131k and rising by 1100 miles a week. That will be an impressive service record if I ever sell it, a Skoda with a full Jaguar main dealer history Laughing

Factor in 4 MOT's a year, etc and it begins to make it look a bit less like I live in the stealer. Laughing

The other plus point is that with me giving him so much business is that I get proper Mates Rates when it comes to all the servicing. Generally speaking he takes a modest profit over his costs rather than the standard ridiculous menu prices, in return for which he has 100% loyalty for replacement cars and servicing work. Hell, he's even cheaper than most online tyre places for the boots I need.
