Deposit paid on a new RRS...erm

So I took the family out to try out a replacement for our L322.

There's a Porsche garage in the town so I thought "why not" - I wasn't an unpleasant experience and they let us have the car for a full day. Never been a fan of the Cayenne but it was nice to put it to bed once and for all. It has Pro's and Con's but at the end of the day it wasn't for us.

We then did back to back test drives of the new RRS SDV6 and L405 TDV8 - in that order.

Having had the opportunity to drive a L405 TDV6 last year - which was very impressive at the time, I was convinced we were going to choose the "proper" Range Rover, but....

After driving the back to back, then thinking about how we would actually use them (based on how we use ours at the moment), for us, the Sport was the right choice....I think.

In 4 weeks we have another bundle of joy arriving - that'll be the back seats with 2 child seats so no need for luxury there. I love the split tailgate, it makes fixing the rear wash wipe much easier Very Happy, but with 2 pushchairs in the back it's going to get in the way when trying to reach the shopping that's had to be lobbed in every nook and cranny seen as the boot is much smaller! (the biggest drawback and almost a deal breaker as neither can take a pushchair lengths ways but the L322 does!).

So, in a heart versus head battle; spreadhsheets comparing boot size, leg room and the small fact of the £21,000 price difference, ahem! We've chosen a Sport to see how we get on with it, if I miss the FF too much we'll trade back up.

It feels weird to trade down in size when our family is growing but what the hell, there's only one way to find out.

So to my question, will I no longer be welcome here once the old gal goes? Very Happy

GJOB

Oh and P.S. Does anyone fancy giving my old gal a loving home?

GJOB, it sounds like the L322 ticks all your boxes currently, with another boy/girl on the way why don't you just keep it and spend money on Nappies et al. Which you will have to do anyway Thumbs Up

Well my wife will be the main driver so that's a factor too Smile

Yes, the difference isn't huge and the interior is so similar with only the smallest detail changes - I think the new RRS will steal a lot of sales from the FF.

We've had our FF for a good few years now and whilst she's still going strong we want to upgrade.

I had considered a late model L322 but having spent time in the new models the 400kg weight difference is very noticeable, the updated styling is growing on us.

On a side note, I was told the RRS is getting the TDV8 and also a Hybrid this year at some point.....fyi
