Scotland 2012 Range Rover Westminster TDV8 Santorini Black

So Peter Vardy have not improved their service at all!

Had the Westminster towed into Vardys just before Xmas as the remote access shat its self and we couldn't get into it. Didn't want it to go to PV but Landrover insisted. Sad
They claimed not to have the vehicle after CARS had recovered it to them, (they couldnt find the car in their yard?!) they took 10 days to diagnose and then "fix" the fault.
But the "fix" turned out to be a reset of the module, at which I generally lost it with them and asked for the module to be replaced, they agreed and rebooked me back in for a few days later.
Once I left the car park, I discovered the airbag warning light on and the drivers heated seat wasn't working now either.
When I spoke to one of the service advisors, he said if I could take the car into them first thing in the morning, I could wait for the car while they replaced the module it would only take an hour. When I turned up I was told that they had no one free until later in the afternoon Evil or Very Mad
After heated discussions about the heated seat not working I demanded my keys back and left the showroom. I then had a call from the service manager who apologised for the shoddy service and promised to repair the car today.
They came and collected the car and replaced the module.
When I collected the car the following day, I had to put som,e stuff in the boot, when I opened the boot I found deep scratches gouged into the lower tail gate on, and around, the tail gate latches. Turns out when the (rumoured) mechanic was gaining access into the car (when the module wasn't working), he managed to damage and scratch the tail gate badly. Big Cry Big Cry
Now they have promised to repair the tail gate but Im still waiting to hear back from them about the repair.

Vardys have not improved their service at all, in fact it seems they have gotten worse. Sad Sad

Reading that (^) makes my blood boil. That is totally unacceptable if you bought a used car for £500. It's even worse from any luxury marque. Have you CC'ed JLR about it? Evil or Very Mad

And good luck. I hope the repairs FINALLY turn out all right.

I can vouch for his rage after picking it up!!
I couldn't believe the mess they'd made trying to get to the lower tailgate latches from the wrong direction!!!
I think Mickey Mouse wears a Peter Vardy watch!!!

I've been speaking with a very nice lady at JLR customer services over an unrelated matter, and mentioned the problems I'm having with Peter Vardy, she was going to call them and also speak with someone else at JLR.

I still can't believe PV let the vehicle leave the workshop with the damage and expect me to say nothing about it!! Evil or Very Mad
At the very least, they should have notified me about the damage?!

I'm away working abroad just now, so will be chasing them up when I get home about the repairs!

Could you post a picture of the damage? It really is shocking the lack of care some dealers have with other peoples pride and joy. Previously..

When I had a problem with Peter Vardy Land Rover putting the wrong engine oil in my then Westminster, I involved a nice lady at JLR by the name of Mindy.

Mindy was very helpful but in the end achieved nothing. She then lost all interest in my case once she heard I was going to buy a different vehicle.

Peter Vardy's admitted error cost me £150 for the wrong oil, £400 for a second ferry trip and 40 hours away from home. The only thing they did was to follow the company policy of spending as little as possible when rectifying their own error.

I dreaded the thought of ever having to go back there for another service I PXed the Westminster for a Cayenne S Diesel and am delighted with my choice. The Cayenne suits my needs while being faster, more economical, cheaper to tax and only needs a service every two years.

All main dealers give me the Censored , being in the trade I can't believe people pay such astronomical prices for repairs and servicing needs when a shop around and a good independent can save thousands and nine times out of ten the people working on the car actually know what they are doing, paying for the site and all those wages and the prestige doesn't mean better, I hate the smarminess and pretentiousness of these big dealers all they are happy in is taking cash not personal needs in most cases, sorry rant over Laughing _____________________________________________________

Im stuck offshore just now and the office computer wont let me upload the pics Sad I'll get the pics uploaded when i get home enxt week.

Quick update, PV took the vehicle to Kinghorns Bodyshop (who do all of PVs work) the owner of Kinghorns was inspecting the tail gate and found imperfections in the paint work, something to do with blemishes coming through from underneath the paint work. Upshot is PV have applied to JLR for a warrenty claim to replace the lower boot lid. Very Happy

We'll see how that goes!

Golden rule - never use an Aberdeen main dealer

Other than when Lexus had a single dealer I've never had main dealer service which is acceptable.

LR; Porsche; BMW, lotus, Mitsubishi, Nissan etc ... All are way off the mark.

We have the current FFRR sent 80miles each way on a trailer to avoid the Aberdeen complacent attitude.

If you look around, there are better places to trust your pride & joy with.v

This sorry chapter has now come to an end as Vardy have sold the business. As all the existing staff have apparently moved over to the new owner (Parks) I cannot imagine for a minute that it is worth going back there. Too many horror storiesā€¦ 2016 SDV8 AB

Like the others, i vowed never to go back to PV in Aberdeen.

They replaced the front ACE pipes on mine a couple years ago after Pentlands in Perth (supplying dealer) refused to answer my calls or emails. The bill from PV made my eyes water and when collecting the car, the service assistant asked if i would take part in a quality survey. Well, that was too good an opportunity to pass up, so i told them exactly what i thought of them and JLR's idea of "quality".......i mean hydraulic pressure in mild-steel pipes, exposed to salt on winter roads FFS! Censored

During the "quality" survey i got the sales pitch; she reminded me that my car was old and would only increase its time being serviced/repaired......and would I like to get a trade-in valuation against a nice-shiny new L460? Of course, i asked her if they would apply the same level of shoddy work to a new L460 as they did to my L405? I felt sorry for the youngster having to deal with a disgruntled old-fart!

I was calm, frank and polite (no raised voices and no swearing) but I think my honesty took her by surprise and she called the service manager over. I then told him exactly the same thing.

The surprise thing was that he completely agreed with me and apologised. I asked him what was the point of being called the "service manager" if he was unable to improve the work being done in his name? He confirmed my suspicion that he was a service manager by name only. He had no power to make changes to improve the service, but if i would return, i was to call him personally and he would arrange discounted work.......i reminded him it was the quality of the work/time taken to get a slot/price and availability of parts that put me off......so unless he was suitably trained and going to do it himself, i would not return and turned his offer down.

Needless to say my car hasn't darkened their doorway since.

I hope Parks make a better go of it, but......... Whistle

Mike
