I would never describe £1000 as negligible. Even £500 for four pieces of plastic concerns me.

Your OP posed a question about likely cost so I didn't think you had a real idea as to the potential outlay.

The prices of some apparently lesser/ incidental things does seem OTT although when spending a lot of money on a new car, some will pay for bits and pieces that just don't seem worth it to others. I suppose you could shop around for quotes to have it done elsewhere for less if not already done.

As we are enthusiasts (some would say spods) we are all about the details, and if you look at the L322 model, the designers change these little aspects to keep things fresh, and attract buyers. The L405 is no different with all the MY changes.

At some point the silver highlight will disappear in favour of either a Brunel type colouring or, chrome, or body coloured or contrast coloured like the roof options. We will all change things to make it look newer....It's a merry-go-round!


I would also counter that when spending so much on a new car, the tiny details and extra costs DO make ALL the difference. Discovery 4 HSE

In 1999 my mother bought a new BMW and 'even then' paid £500 for some minor colour coding for the main dealer to do before collecting the car. The sales person told her she was wasting her money but the customer wanted it and that was that!

On a related note, my Vogue is due for build next week and there is no option to upgrade the front grille so it will come with the darker shade finish. It's a santorini black exterior so I wanted the chrome finish on the VSE / AB.

Can that be sprayed after delivery or am I better ordering a new grille from the dealer and flogging the original?
