MY 2010 FFRR or SSRR

I'm familiar with both acronyms already Razz .
Currently in a TD6 Vogue and looking to upgrade, I would love one of the new ones but sadly their well out of my price range.

My budget is early 30s and I want to get a facelifted one but am honestly torn between which to go for, a 3.6 TDV8 FF or a 3.0 TDV6 HSE Sport, the FF is bigger and has a nicer interior but at the same time the interior doesn't feel as fresh as the Sport.
Is the handling any improved on a 2010 over a TD6?, I know the engine is significantly nicer.
Any advice would be great, obviously I'm expecting some bias Razz , but some impartiality would be great.
If I could get a 4.4 in my budget this would be less of a contest.
To add I don't have any children or any need for load lugging abilities I just like driving a 4x4 and I especially like driving a Range Rover.

Also I don't know if anyone can help, but do they come with Digital TV and the split view as standard and the holographic dials?.

I have had both and now i drive a 4.4TDV8.

The handling on the later models TD6 wasn't to my driving style but the different suspension set up on the later face lift models is much better. its not the same as the sport but you won't drive a FF like you would a sport.
Theres not a lot of difference in speed from the 3.0L V6 in the sport to the 3.6l in the FF but the driving experience is totally different. The FF is like driving a leather arm chair around.
Its your choice but once you've owned a FFRR you won't go back to the old style sport.

I hope this helps Thumbs Up 2020 Porsche Panamera Turbo Hybrid (V FAST)

I do like my FF but the TD6 is a bit of a tractor and is underpowered, I suppose the answer is the same as always really, test drive both and pick which you prefer, on paper at least the Sport looks the more sensible choice for me but then I've not driven one.
Another thing I wanted to ask someone who owns one is do they have the adaptive cornering headlights? and wht's the MPG like on a TDV8?, I assume being a newer engine it's going to be much improved on the TD6.
4.4 Would be my pick too but their still a little bit too expensive for me, I want to get something 10/60 Reg preferably that I can get a LR Warranty on.

The TDV8 is totally different to what you have now. My Vogue SE had the adaptive head lights.
Some of the chaps on here are getting 25+MPG out of theirs. There is a post for MPG on here somewhere.
I don't think i could go back to a sport as they feel very cramped after a FF.

Good luck with your search Thumbs Up

test drive and see.

The TDV8 3.6 is a good engine although you may need to beware of brakes - at some point (someone on here will know) LR took off the bembo's, which resulted in rather unpleasant braking ability. This may effect 10/60 reg vehicles, but it might have been earlier.

In comparison to the Sport, the Range Rover is a completely different beast - the Sport is based on a Discovery and has a dual chassis setup (so, heavy) but does have the active anti roll bar, which means that it stiffens up as you go into a corner. Sport ride and interior is not my taste, feels/is cheaper. However, the Sports had serious problems with knocking in the front suspension, caused by the anti roll system (won't go into detail) but I know it was never really resolved, so so in fact that the same problem is present on the L405.

RR nicer car if you can afford IMHO.

Iv'e had both and the only nice thing I will say about the sport is the engine. The ride is way too hard for me.

I wouldn't worry too much about the 3.6 vs the 4.4 either - I've driven both and there is a difference but not enough to make me spend the extra wonga. I'm told that a re-mapped 3.6 is the same as a 4.4 so for 500 quid you can have whet you want in performance.

Just a bit on warranty you can get a Landrover warranty even if it is out of warranty. You book it in for a pre warranty check and then if ok of you go from memory it is up to 10 yrs old and 100k at time of taking out warranty I have one on mine its a 2007 with 89k on the clock and will be renewing in feb

IMHO, it depends on A, how you drive & B, how much you love Range Rover's? If you love Range Rover's then you would never choose a Sport over a TDV8 FF... Your current TD6 will feel very different to a newer TDV8 FF not only the engine but also the later cars have a much better suspension setup Thumbs Up

Plus, when you pull up to the traffic lights and the other car pulls up beside you...
Which one will you be happy in?

I went from a 4.4 FF to three Sports then back to a FF. And honestly.......prefer the Sport although my ownership was a chequered one. FF handles like an articulated barge, is far to big and I'm fed up sliding about in the armchairs. The 405 addresses lots of these issues and has kept me in the FF family otherwise I probably would have returned to the Sportside Twisted Evil TDV8 Vogue SE 2009.
TDV8 Sport. Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!

England 2009 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Santorini Black

I nearly bought a TDV8 Sport from a neighbour but found a FFRR TDV8 SE I liked so went for that - then my neighbour said "you did the right thing and got that, much better than the Sport!" and I totally agree with him, it suits me and what I want from a car exactly - but it is a personal thing so try both first for your own sake to be sure, they are quite different in many ways so depends what you like in terms of ride / space / comfort etc

And don't worry about what others think of what you've bought - it's your money mate, enjoy whatever you get Thumbs Up

To tell the truth I've come from a long line of more performance orientated stuff-E92 M3, TVR, E55 AMG and a few others but their the interesting ones, I got a TD6 as a back up over the winter as I got a good deal on it and absolutely love the whole Range Rover thing, so much so that the M3 has gone and it's now my main vehicle, I just don't see the point in having a fast car in London and when I go out of town the traffic is just as bad for miles around.
However the TD6 is just a tad slow and noisy so would like to upgrade and think perhaps the Sport might be a good bet, but I will definitely drive both first as the 2010 facelift is quite far removed from the TD6 in how it drives by the sound of it.

Also Sandy, out of interest how much is the LR warranty?, I only ask because it could be a good negotiating point.

Hi, do you know the cost of pre warranty check. Struggling to find a FF from LR in the colours, specification within budget but feel LR approved warranty is best.

Matt

Its £60
You will only need to pay this if the car hasn't got a warranty on it at present.
