Newbee

Hello all,

I hoping to join the club and buy a Range Rover in the very near future. I went and saw this today, drove well for the short trip around for 10 minutes in town.

Land Rover Range Rover 4.2 V8 Supercharged VOGUE SE 4dr Auto BARGAIN,FULLY LOADED

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/adv...?logcode=p

Would welcome thoughts on this, 195k on the clock, motorway miles I've been told which is from my research why the price is low. Im gong for another look tomorrow, is there anything i should check bar the usual? Any big fixes due around that age?

Any help much appreciated,
William

Very quick search shows....

This one is only £1.5k more yet has done 115k miles.

This is the same price and has done only 100k miles.

Why are you fixed on this one?

Hi Welcome to the forum Thumbs Up

I would say that mileage is a bit too high for my liking, it also seems to have a lot of chrome bits added - if it were me I'd look for a 4.4 of the same age with a much lower mileage or add a few grand more to your budget and buy a lower mileage Supercharged

Good luck with your hunt for a car Thumbs Up Now: BMW 640d M Sport, Alpine White

Hi, welcome to the forum.
The chrome bits aren't my choice, nor the wheels .....but leaving personal choice behind I don't see it being a star bargain with that mileage. As above - why this one??

I would suggest a 195K SC should be somewhere between £6k-£8k due to the milage...

Good luck fella Thumbs Up

Hmm. Black on black looks very nice. All the chrome is not to everyone's taste. The wheels look very nice, but large. I haven't driven a FFRR with tyres greater than 20", but I've hear they do the ride no favours. Given the very good posts above about lesser mileage cars at better prices, I think either widening your search or doing some serious bargaining is in order.

Lastly, once you've settled on a car, get it fully inspected by a knowledgeable FFRR specialist. Happy hunting.

Good morning & thank you all for your concise & invaluable feedback. With all you've said I've decided not to go with the car I linked to and wait to get a little more cash for a lower mileage model as per the suggestions. The mileage was my main concern. Is there are section here on what to look for when buying one?

Cheers all,
William

Glad that you've decided against it.

And please, next time, take it for more than a 10 minute around-town drive. Si. <This is my name.

It was rather bling, and that did put me off a little. Alos upon further research i found this about the chap selling it

http://www.carbuyingadvisor.co.uk/review/r...tL6Pf2Vf6k

I know its only one review, but he didn't have a London location, and only a pretty rough looking space in Birmingham upon further research, all added up to just didn't feel happy to part with all that money.

This forum has been ever so helpful, cheers again!
William

Hi All,

So i finally bought a RR, 2004 model with a 2012 facelift. Its been an interesting couple of months of ownership with the fuel pump needing to be replaced, aircon condenser needing to be replaced, LPG seals replaced and finally the hoses for the coolant came off so replaced them all, 10k bought and 2k spent so far. Hope this is it as its a rate of expenditure thats more than my Alfa!

Loving the RR thou Smile
