United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover SE Td6 Zermatt Silver

AS IN

NEW STYLE 18"

OLD STYLE 18"

SAME SIZE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT STYLE/TREAD BUT BOTH PIRELLI SCORPIAN ZERO

Maybe the new version is only currently available up the 18" I have no idea really. I prefer the existing anyway Laughing

Obviously that's a different pattern, but:

(a) Pirelli themselves confirmed that the Scorpion Zero tread pattern has not changed in Range Rover fitments in the last two years; and

(b) we don't know exactly what the differences were in the tyres ordered by tboner001.

Pulling pictures from eBay of tyres in non-Range Rover fitments won't help with either of those points.

Paging AJS4x4 ...

Hope to go there Friday for the 2 x 20" they are due i am told.

The ones that they got in earlier this week looked far more like the Pics that Gary posted and the later post not the same as the tyres fitted as standard on the 11.5 MY car i have here. I never thought to take a picture of them of course, if they still have them there when i hopefully go tomorrow i will grab a snap with the phone. Far to many gone...

Let us know - interesting to see if Pirelli are giving out the wrong information.

You complained I was using stock pictures so I thought pictures of actual tyres in actual UK circulation may be useful!

It certainly proves that tyres sold in 18" as Scorpian Zero have changed from one design to another.

I did say that this may not effect sizes over 18" but I suspect it does.... Whistle

And L322 Range Rover do use 18" on some older wheel designs.

There are also new (or at least unused - no indication of date stamps) 19" and 20" Zeroes for sale on eBay in the "old" pattern. Doesn't help answer the question though.

Your still missing my point.

I was not even sure if the new design had been released in the Uk. As you stated the stock pictures on the Pirelli site mean little. The pictures of actual tyres in the UK proves they have though.

The pictures of the actual tyres can only of helped and not hindered the quest to find out if the new style is replacing the old in Range Rover sizes. Neutral

My 18" on the disco are definitlely the older style with the snow sipes fitted in late nov 13..... Dont know of hand what the dot codes are though, there was a pile of old style in malvern tyres in burton yesterday.
The newer ones look like they would be quieter but less grippy in the snow..... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

At the moment it would seem both designs are definately being sold in the UK as "Scorpian Zeros" so it seems likely (To Me) that the existing style are existing/current stock and the new style will eventually replace them. Although I hope not!

No other explanation really. I think tboner001 post will prove to be correct:

Quote:
tboner001: Ordered 2 Scorpion zeros went to tyre place and get there nothing like the originals similar but patter far more closed and told they are the new 2013-14 low noise spec tyres. looked at them all the info on the sidewall was the same bar some codes.

They were not Verde i have those on some 21" fine for summer waste of time for anything else.

He has now sourced me 2 from another supplier which are getting fitted today that supplier says there are still quite a few of the old style about but you have to make sure you tell them which spec you want when ordering ?

Not missing the point. The different design has been around for a while, on smaller diameter tyres at least, as the number of used tyres of that type for sale on eBay illustrates.

The only thing we can ascertain from the new and used tyres for sale on eBay is that there are none of the different design available for sale on there at the moment, either new or used, in sizes which fit a Range Rover. Nothing more than that.

Other than that, all we know is that tboner001 has seen a version of a Pirelli Scorpion Zero tyre in a Range Rover size that looks different from the OEM ones, and that Pirelli's customer services department say there has been no change to the tread pattern in Range Rover sizes (a statement which it seems may be proved incorrect).

There are a few references to the new tread pattern (referred to as "ZZ") on various tyre sites, here's a picture of one which appears to be in a larger size with two rows of "Z"s:

Now I am really confused Laughing

When I bought my set a few weeks ago the tyre firm said there was a new style replacing them but I guess they could also be wrong.

I still reckon we will be fitting these sooner rather than later....

PS: There seems to be more Sipes on these bigger Double "Z" versions......

To be honest, I can't remember what the last replacement one I bought looked like in any great detail, and it's 200 miles away at the moment. Will have to have a closer look.

The Double "Z" Version (Which we assume is 19/20 inch) is also on the Pirelli Scorpion Zero main page:

As this is the only description of the Zero on the Pirelli site and it mentions the "Attractive Tread" pattern this may be a clue Idea
