United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Java Black

I have an 2003 52 reg on 136k owned since 2011, bought from a back street dealer in manchester( for £10k and a knackered freelander) but it had a reciept for having the gearbox replaced.
since then its had the following
secondary fuel pump
2 injectors
compressor
rear discs
full set of brake pads
battery
gear box oil leak -2 o rings and 2 litres of gearbox oil
set of tyres
split fuel pipe to high pressure pump
full set of rear hub bushes + tracking
2 headlight ecu's and an igniter
front diff prop recall done at dealers under waranty
one abs sensor
crank case breather replaced with the BMW upgrade
couple of services
do most of the work myself as I have an allcomms the price for it all is around £2500

The only 2 times its stopped are when the front prop/diff joint broke and when the battery was dead after it was parked in an airport carpark for 2 weeks.

Mine has just hit 101k, Gearbox was done by previous owner, and since I've had it it has done a Headlight Ballast, needed brake pads and a tyre, I think really the gearbox is the main big one on the TD6, Air Suspension can be costly but otherwise most of the things would be similar on most cars of a similar age and mileage.

Yes - hoping for some time without needing anything for a bit, as I don't do many miles.

In hindsight, with what I've spent, could have got a tdv8, but the maths would have only worked if that had been trouble free, and there was no guarantee of that...... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Interesting chaps - thank you. Lots of food for thought.

Slightly less concerned about owning the 'ultimate luxury', more about having reliable transport. After all, I have a beautiful, late, RR Classic for when I want to waft about. Very hard to beat that on a nice day (apart from the petrol!)

Discounted the D3 for sure. FL and Td6 in the running now.

Will let you know!

Whenever I'm asked about FF ownership to those looking to buy their own, I only recommend them to those willing to accept ongoing and potentially expensive maintenance.
I think some expect that because the car is a "premium" brand it will be fault free - not a chance !
I wouldn't shy away from the kind of car you're looking at buying, but as with alot of things, knowledge is power . . .

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?
