2006 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Zermatt Silver
XXXXX, suit FFRR/RRS

Thanks!

Edited as now aware it breaches the forum rules. I don't agree with the rule if I'm brutally honest. Everything in for sale must have a price (good rule) but you can't promote your own ebay links if you're not sure how to price something (bad rule) particularly if it's something unusual hence why using an auction site.

But they aren't my rules I suppose.

I agree with both the current forum rules and the OP. On one hand a member frequently advertising/selling items on ebay and linking could be classed as an abusive use of the forum. However an occasional ebay link, by a conrbuting member selling a single ffrr related item - especially an item an item of limited buyer market should be permitted. Perhaps any such listing should be required to have a reference to the ffrr site, therefore helping to promote this very forum to new members.

that might work Phillip but who's going to police that and make sure it is only a few items..

sometimes its so obvious that a someone has joined the forum, waited for a month and posted rubbish just to get up to the accepted post count to post their goods...
my thoughts are that the forum should get a % £ donation of goods sold to help the running of it..

Stick to the rules, they're good ones.

If you want to put it up for sale on the forum, then price it accordingly, if you want to put it up on eBay, either price it accordingly to match (BIN) or take the chance with/without a reserve.

The whole point of forum sales is to have direct contact with buyers who share the same car, we will still haggle! .

If you want to sell it to a fellow member, you state a price that you are happy with and advertise it here.
If you want to sell it for as much as you can, then you stick it on eBay and takes your chances!
You can't do both.... Previously..

The tone of the last two posts suggests there's something dishonourable or underhand about selling an FFRR or RRS item on ebay when there are potential buyers here on the forum. I am not being greedy by using an auction site to let one of my possessions find its true value rather than listing it here at a wild guess at its value and either end up losing out or sit looking at a thread with no takers that makes me look like a rip off merchant. In an ideal world I'd let the auction run, knock 10% off the hammer price and list it here on the forum as I've bought bits from here previously that we're keenly priced but the world isn't like that. I refuse to accept that listing items on ebay is in anyway detrimental to the forum or it's users and it certainly can't be regarded as greedy which is the sense I get from he two posts above.

Shocked really? You would let someone think they had won an auction and then not sell it to them only to sell it cheaper on here??
I posted my last post with no attitude... You really have to think of a price if you want to sell it here. If you want to find its true value as you put it, search on eBay for what similar items have sold for, then price yours accordingly.

NO I said in an ideal world that I'd find its true value on eBay and then list it as a deal here (I did not say that I would actually do, read the post properly). That's what I believe is the spirit of the forum, hence you often see people showing an autotrader price but then offering a discount to forum members. There are no comparables hence the item will be staying on eBay and not in the for sale section here. If they sell for a fiver then so be it.

I don't have an issue abiding by rules in the virtual world or the real world (and I am abiding by the letter of the law in this thread) but I don't see an issue with challenging them if I feel there's space for a debate. Responses haven't been entirely negative just some seem to prefer a witch hunt to engaging in discussion.

In reply to Stan - I think this forum is very well policed and moderators seem to know very much so what's happening here with both new and existing members. I also feel the reasons members list on forums is to target the most potential buyers and to avoid ebay/auction/PayPal fees. Forcing non business a fee sellers would be a mistake as it infringes on one of these reasons but suggesting donations is a good idea.
I would look at the model used by a mobile audio/video podcast that I listen/watch, "The Phones Show Chat' Http://www.pscforum.co.uk
Their forum only came alive when a free to use classified section was included. Members are allowed to link to ebay/gumtree etc. Most items listed appear to get sold to forum members anyway and sellers just end ebay/gumtree listings etc. It would appear to have bolstered membership as well. Many members including myself who have sold items on their forum also freely make a donation in appreciation to the entertainment/ advice gained on the forum, good moderation and saving from ebay/PayPal fees

All that said - neither forum belongs to me and members should follow the rules as decided by the owners.

I think you have got the wrong end of the stick here.
We were only pointing out that what you had done was not the right thing to do. ( i did it myself and it got taken off. my fault for not reading the posting rules properly)

What you need to do is list your item on here with a price that you are looking for. Theres nothing to say you can't list it on ebay as well.

I hope this helps.

Please put a picture up and list them on here, you will sell them straight away if the price is right. Thumbs Up

If it helps, I saw your ad, just before you removed it,
So I know the model of what your selling.

I found a new set from a car accessory store , so can advise what the
"Top" price would be. You could base your price from there perhaps?
Haven't written it here, as don't want to scupper your sale Thumbs Up Alcohol and eBay is never a good mix
