Oil low pressure sensor

Hi guys!

Can someone clarify

If the range rover vogue l322 has absolutely no oil will the engine turn over?

Or will the low oil pressure switch prevent engine turnover to avoid engine seizing.

Kind of makes sense if there was this safety cut of device.

Look forward to your reply

The sensor switch only detects when the pressure is low and doesn't act as a safety cut off device. If there is no oil in the sump it is possible for the engine to run for a short period of time before it seizes up due to lack of lubrication. Not recommended trying this though...

The engine would have to have oil pressure loss for that system to work... But surely, oil pressure is lost everytime the car is turned off so, it would never start using that system would it? Neutral
