car smoking on starting

check coolant level warning came up yesterday morning whilst on my way to airport. engine temperature on normal

when i got back to the car a few hours later, on startup it smoked and disappeared after a few seconds.

Since then it is smoking on startup but disappear few seconds later

btw water level was okay when i checked it - needed about 300 ml to fill it right to the top.

what can it be - so frustrated :bulb:

also car feels as powerful as always, no warning lights on, no oil in radiator water, no water in oil (dipstick)

Could be the diaphragm in the pcv valve or the hoses perished.

I had the same thing myself not long after I purchased and was very concerned to say the least. I went on to replace the hoses which were perished but didn't get round to doing the valve itself.

The smoke on start up only happened a couple of times and has never returned.

took the car to indie where i left it for a few days - when i got there he told me that it didn't smoke at all during the time that it was with him. however we agreed that he would replace the PCV unit which he did. after i took the car it smoked once or twice more until I refuelled.

I just drove about 2000kms since the then and voila! no smoke - car is driving very nicely with fuel usage of about 13l/100kms at speeds of around 135km/h.

Big Cry aargh! Joy of no smoking did not last long. Smoking is back and seems to be worse than before. Its even smoking whilst driving whereas in the past it only smoked at startup.

Pcv was replaced before i left for my trip. Pcv hoses were replaced a year ago with original hoses. Could it be that the hoses are fubar - we did about 40000kms (23000 miles) since then.

Just checked oil and water. Seems that the oil had been overfilled but there is no water in the oil. Water level is good with no indication of oil in it ( no sludge)

I also checked the air intake and maf sensor - no indication of oil therein

can the overfilled oil result in the smoking?

they do say that over filling is as bad as under filling so this could be the reason for the excessive smoke..
