Wing mirror micro-switch contact arm

Hi,

my L322 (2004) Vogue wing mirrors close and open straight away. I have taken apart both sides and the drivers side seems fine.

However, the passenger side micro-switch is missing the 'contact-arm' that activates the switch. Have looked around the assembly for signs of it and short of taking the whole mirror off, cannot find it.

Is there any way I can get another?

Shame that such a little Censored part plays such a big part Sad

Thanks guys!

It might be in there somewhere so work a look, as you can't get parts/spares for this AFAIK, only a whole wing mirror assembly £££ Evil or Very Mad

I believe someone on rangerovers.net tracked down the microswitch, or a close relative to it.

The alternative is to make one up, using the one on the other side as a template

I did a howto dismantle a wing mirror assembly a while back: http://www.fullfatrr.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=341 .

Hi Joe90 - think I found that post on the other website where somebody tracked down a possible alternative. I've basically got this in mind:

http://www.camiscomponents.com/pre-wired-m...r1-ul.html

The switch looks pretty similar and it even has two holes for where the lugs push in. The only thing that's questionable is if the lever will function as intended - got a feeling I may have to cut it down.

I'll open up the assembly again tomorrow and have a look for the metal arm. Can't see how it's ended up anywhere else as the mirror looks like a pretty sealed unit but I can only hope Smile

on a similar but hijacking note....I have 'open circuits' on my 2002 UK passenger side mirror, and the drivers switch pack is all fine and the mirror connections and inside pass' door are good too. is there another weak spot. p.s mine fold/unfold ok, just no up/down left right. and test tool says open circuits. I don't want to pull too much apart for something trivial (to me)

May need a new thread but sounds like the tilt/swivel motor has packed up or become disconnected .

Found this on eBay and the contact arm looks very similar to the one on the other side.

Tempted to give it a try - butcher the switch for the arm, if nothing else. A bit of an expensive/wasteful way of doing things but it would probably work:

I think that might be too small. (I could be wrong!) although it does look to be the right shape (the lever)

Head back to the camiscomponents site and look under Ultra-miniature, you will find the same one as on ebay for a 1/3 of the price, check out the pdf data sheet for measurements .
