I appear to have water coming in under the passenger carpet foot well. Looks like it’s been ongoing for a while because having removed the kick plate and the two side panels in the foot well i managed to lift the carpet away from the foot well to see in and across to the centre tunnel and it was like Lake Windermere under there, the sponge underlay was dripping and all the channels were full of water.

I spent a week drying it all out with the carpet raised as much as possible, lots of cloths a hot air heater and a de humidifier. Once dry i could then check daily so i could see hopefully the first point of dampness when it rained again to localise where it may be coming in but it seems to have gone from dry to very wet all across the sponge again and this time of year it’s a pain to dry anything..........

Has anyone had experience of this before................I dont belive it’s from the air con, it’s not coolant , the windscreen has not been replaced, it’s very much clean rain water but can’t see where it could enter

I have checked the sunroof drain tubes and water does go through them although a bit slow...........if they were blocked how can the water get from the sunroof gutter to the foot well, surly I would have water over flowing into the headlining first which is still dry

Thanks Stan, will take a look tomorrow and try to get some line down or up the drain tubes, still not sure how the water gets out around the tube to the foot well...............do the front drain tubes go down either side of the windscreen and the rear tubes inbetween the front and rear doors ? every one keeps talking in A,B or C pillars

well I couldn’t wait as we have more rain forecast. I used some bike brake cable from under the car on the passenger side having pulled the drain bung out and proceeded to feed it up the tube. After some wiggling, the cable not me,.... some very grubby water exited out of the tube and down my arm so i guess it was blocked.

The odd thing no matter how i tried i can’t get the wire down from the top there must be one hell of a bend in the run, I’ve poured some water down from the top and it runs fine now, it also appears that the angle of my drive means the passenger forward drain is the primary exit route for any rain so it kinda adds up now......

The worry i have is how to clean the other 3 drain tubes, the drivers exit point is behind the air suspension reservoir.........thanks Land Rover, and this is when you’re sure that one designer wasn’t talking to the other designer

Any tips on getting the wire in from the top and should I try to clear the rear drain pipes?

i think in one of those threads i've listed for someone mentions a one way valve which might be stopping you from getting in from the top... ... - .- -.

I spent the morning while it wasn’t raining drying out the passenger carpet, few panels off prop the carpet up a bit, hot air fan heater under carpet..........all good and nice and dry.......

having hopefully cleared the passenger side sunroof drain by putting a bike cable up from underneath the wire seems to stop about 10cm from the top, interestingly I can only get about 10cm of wire down from the top which has been reported on here before....water flows through fine........ there is only one non return valve at the bottom so does anyone know why you can’t get the wire down from the top, both sides are the same.

If anyone is bored and would like to try theirs i would love to know if you can get any wire down for than 10-15cm from the top

If anyone has changed one of these pipes or has had one apart i am interested to know what’s at the 10cm mark from the top as it should be clear pipe until the valve at the bottom, it could be a design fault with a tight bend although looking at some pictures of the P38 roof apart it’s a very clean run so at a loss what’s in there on an L322

well, its almost a year since i posted my water ingress issue under the passenger carpet, ive spent many an hour trying to find where the water enters the car including the sunroof water drains which having double checked they were clear and making sure they remained clear each month did not stop the water appearing under the passenger carpet............many things since then have been removed, checked and put back but alas ive had to dry the underside of the passenger mat every 2 months or so.........

Fast forward to about a month ago and i took the decision based on an extract from a thread on here to turn my car round on the drive as ever since Ive had it its pointed downhill towards my bungalow............so what the hell i thought Ive tried everything else..............well a month later having had many a day of monsoon Britain i can almost not believe it by its as dry as bone...........

Although its clear the leak is not fixed its just being avoided, im now thinking its either the passenger door or rear door seals that are the culprit combined with the fact that when the car is facing down hill the passenger side of the car and the seals are being pummeled by some very strong south westerly's that are often horizontal on the coast where i live which fores the water past the seals and runs down into the foot-well

However just when you kinda fix one thing something else appears, ..........now the car is round the other way i seem to get water (very small amount) into the tyre well which is coming in via the boot seal...........ah the joy

Move house, to somewhere with a flat drive..... Only sensible solution! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

You could try taping the doors up externally with Duck tape to guarantee they are water-proof and then hose the car down and see what happens. If nothing gets in you've found the problem.
Next undo the tape on one door and hose the car again and see what happens. Keep doing this on each door until water appears in the car. You have then probably found the culprit.
Personally I would also tape up the air inlet to the heater and carry out the same procedure.
Just on the off chance, your scuttle panel drains aren't blocked by any chance? 3 drains, one below each wiper shaft and one in the centre.
