Faulty Denso DVD Player for Sat Nav

I have a 2007 Range Rover SE 3.6 TDV8 my sat nav has started displaying "map reading error" I have tried 3 different DVD`s with the same result. It can work fine then just stop, a short while after it comes back on. Any ideas of the cause? or where can I have this repaired, I stay in Glasgow, Scotland

Might be due to the heavy rain causing condensation in the reader. Mine threw up an error and when I ejected the disk, it was covered in a layer of condensation. gave it a wipe and it was ok, but maybe your DVD drive is a bit worse than mine? Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
Had- 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black
Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey

That was the first thing I looked at no trace of damp

Now found that I need an upgrade to vehicle settings to enable new double layer DVD to work

all the nav discs in 2006-2009 are dual layer so i dont understand why you have to upgrade the vehicle settings and indeed how this is done.. ... - .- -.

A lot of manufacturers update the nav system firmware when you insert an updated DVD.
An 'original / genuine' Nav disc will have an installer file ( where an update is available), whereas a non-genuine disk might be missing the update file but still have the new mapping data on.

A lens cleaner has to be worth a try, prior to anything else.
Had it, loved it!
