United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Vogue SE Td6 Zambezi Silver
New Purchase - Venture Cam Not working

Hi,

I've bought a brand new V Cam off Flea bay and put it in the slot... and nothing lights up

The Car originally had one (not sold with the Car) and the touchscreen had one paired originally and all the pins look in good condition

Questions:
Is there something I need to do for it to work
Are there different types i.e. have I got the wrong one
For a non Sparky - How do I check there is power to the Pins, where is the Fuse etc

Any help would be appreciated

Best remove other cameras that will be stored in your settings.. Go to the v.c. Screen, it will be obvious what to do. Then reinstall new one.
Hopefully the battery is ok on the new one.... Is it brand new or 2nd hand?
When the car is running can you see any lights on the cam when it is in the cradle? Previously..

How long did you leave it to charge? It can take quite a while, it's not the most up to date bit of technology in the RR.

Maybe after a long run it will fire up, there are threads on here about changing the batteries.

Mine has had water at the holder at sometime and wont work also think the board in the charging socket is us on mine.
If you remove the holder from the dash and look see if yours has had water in might be that.
I get the same problems as you and i changed the battery pack in mine and it lite up no probs at first but would not charge and connect also. Sad Mad

Note: The green charging halo only comes on for a short while when vehicle started. Previous cars:

Update.. Been for a very long drive and still nothing from the V Cam...

Nothing showing in the Touchscreen to say charging...

Q... Is it possible to put an electrical tester across the two pins without causing a problem to check there is power (is there a specific voltage I would need to use......)

Merry Christmas

You may have a slightly warped holder so the two charging discs on the cam aren't connecting to the pins, this happens with my docking station and I've had to put a strip of plastic into the side of the holder once the cam is stuck in the holder. Try sticking the cam in the dock and wiggling around, whilst in the vcam screen and with the engine running, you should get a battery charging icon come up and vcam charging message.

You should be able to put a multimeter across the pins to check if you've got power, if no voltage then possibly the cam motherborad is kaput. I don't think there's a fuse for the cam station.

Any chance you could pop it in another fatties holder to test it? Previously..

That would be good an option - To check if it is the new Cam or the FF wiring..

I would appreciate if any one is local to Bury, Rochdale, or North Manchester or surrounding area that could accommodate the facility of their charging unit to test for a couple of mins..
