I got my local auto specialist to do mine , flush, new filter and new fluid £140 all together. If I recall correctly I have around 75,000 miles at the minute.

That's good. The filter alone from LR is about £90.

silly question but is the gearbox oil separate to the engine?

Yes mate. It's different stuff/ not connected. It's supposed to be sealed for life I think but everyone on here seems to change theirs. Good advice given the life of the early gearbox. My Previous RR's!

The trans oil on a Petrol ZF box needs to be replaced every 60,000 miles according to the gearbox manufacturer.

The trans oil on a Diesel GM box needs to be replaced every 50,000 miles according to the gearbox manufacturer.

If you stick to this and if the box hasn't been overheated then they should easily last to 250K, however LR has branded them Sealed for Life. Which only means for the life of the LR warranty.

If it changes fine when you buy it and you get a fluid and filter change done asap then you shouldn’t experience future problems with it. Be warned that overheating the oil by 1 degree cuts its effectiveness by 50% forever. So if you ever get trans overheat it's imperative that you do a change immediately.

I paid just under £150 inc labour, oil & filter from TES Transmissions, these guys buy the correct fluid by the barrell and not from LR so it won't cost them anywhere near that much.

Don't mess around doing it yourself for that price...
