Successful dice bmw iPod integration done | |
I had an old dice silver line T5 DL1002. Which I removed from my old 5 series.
I have the pin outs for the dice and set about splicing it into my cd changer loom this morning. 2004 vogue with dsp and non touch nav.
I have removed the cd changer altogether but may instal it again with a switch installed so the radio is only talking to one device at a time.
Anyhow it was pretty simple, only 5 wires to splice in and bobs your uncle I have iPod working and full steering wheel controls with song album Info etc scrolling across the nav screen. I haven't worked out how to get it onto the speedo display yet.
The iPod charges when cd changer is selected.
When in Cd1 button mode on radio this allows you to skip ff or rw tracks
Cd2 bottom skips albums
Cd5 selects iPod or the aux function on dice (3.5mm audio jack)
The others are to do with album, track info and where you want it displayed I think.
Anyway I bought my dice off eBay 2nd hand for £25 so pretty good integration for that price. I don't think dice do the model I have anymore so 2nd had will be the only option. It does involve cutting the plug off the end of the dice loom and splicing into existing cd changer wires.
Cd changer wasn't as much of a pain to remove as people have said. I got mine out in 20 mins
FFRR CD CHANGER. DICE PLUG AS VIEWED WITH TAB TO TOP AND FROM LEFT TO RIGHT
RED GREEN 12v+. Pin 12 (bottom right end pin)
Grey white stripe yellow spot-Ibus. Pin 4
Red white stripe. Left audio+. Pin 7
Blue white stripe right audio +. Pin 9
Brown (along side red green 12v wire). Pin 6
Just by the above I got it to work. I was left with 2 audio ground wires spare but if I connected these to earth I found the speakers had interference so I taped them up and left it alone.
