My understanding is that the signals from the Tracker unit can't be jammed and can be picked up in containers or even underground! This is from the web site of the one we are subscribed to:

Mine came with one the previous owner had fitted. It is only a tracker retrieve, so if its nicked they can find it, however i have had a monitor fitted in my old m3 which did what it said on the tin and they would contact you if anything was determined to be out of order, the retrieve doesnt offer this as far as i can find.

I have fitted a tracker to mine. It runs on a PAYG sim so costs me peanuts to run. It will alarm when the interior light comes on, ignition on, speed, location, vibration, or loss of power. I can track it online or via text message. I can send a message to the car to turn off the fuel pump and can ring the car the listen in. I am testing the microphone this evening as I'm still finishing off the install. I have a sounder to fit so that I can hear the confirmation from the remote control when activated or deactivated but I will run it in silent mode to not attract attention.
