2006 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Cairns Blue

Thanks Northernmonkeyjones. Maybe I just leave it for a couple of months and see if the indicator comes up - I do drive it very gently but it must be due soon. But in any event the type of service is now clearer - thank you.
My log book (for car with 94K miles on the clock) has gone through 2 cycles at Stratstones of oil service -inspection 1 - inspection 2. The only one under my ownership was the last oil change. If I go with either the "log book" cycle or your thoughts I end up with an inspection 1 due next, so I'll just go for that.

Simple1 - my car has done 20 months since last service and there has been no year count-down. Perhaps you have a different engine?

Thanks both for your responses

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Tonga Green

This service indicator thing-a-me confused me when I moved up from the P38. My truck is an 07 TDV8 and in the service book it says that the car should be serviced according to the service indicator coming on and nothing else. A call to Land Rover (not the dealer but the 110 110 cust no) confirmed it is not in any way linked to mileage or age, just how the car is driven, and nothing needs doing until the car asks for it.

That said in the whole life of my car, it has never got to telling me it is due a service. Nor did it when the previous owner had it. It was always done every 12 months regardless. I let it run to 14 months one year and when it was still not asking for one I decided to get it done anyway.

The Dealer is slightly different and says it should be done once every 12 months but that is not what Land Rover advise, so I play it safe and went with every 12. Its about to hit 80,000 then it will start to get an oil change every 6,000 miles.

The service book that came with my car tells you how you can see how the service due date by pressing the test button with ignition on but as has already been said that is for the earlier models. They just had not removed the paragraph by 07.

So from my little research, there is no one story, minimum go for every 12 months to play it safe. The dealer I go to said they have a couple of TDV8's that come in around every 3,000 miles! And some they dont see for a couple of years and everything else seems to fall inbetween.

Possibly it wasn't due a service in April , although you maybe thought it was by keeping it to a 12 monthly cycle ...

probably already been said, but I was told the choice to service the car comes from the computer watching the fuel consumption. Am not sure if that is correct though.
