I've had my nearside headlight starting to flicker at idle then last night it cut out, I turned the lights off and then on and it was fine again, I've Googled it and it turns out the bulb is likely on the way out so I want to replace them.
Being a Vogue it does have Xenon headlights and I've heard conflicting things about replacement, one motor factors said a pair was about £18, another one said £82 each as their gas discharge and a Land Rover dealership said £180 each so will be ignoring them.
Which is it though as I don't want to buy the wrong bulbs.
I'm just looking for normal replacement Xenon bulbs.

the bulb type is a DS2...

firstly i would change the suspect faulty bulb with the other side and see if in fact it is going..

you can buy a pair of xenon DS2 of ebay for less than £20 and you could get some 6000k temperature ones that give a whiter light , and by getting a pair you will have the other good one off the range as a spare..

I'm assuming I definately have Xenons as it's a Vogue, so what were Euro Car Parts and LR on about them having very expensive bulbs in them?.

you do have xenons.

OE philips or osram bulbs do cost a lot but you dont need to buy those when theres a cheaper alternative.. ... - .- -.

If its a HID unit and you do say its a Vogue so I will assume its HID then it may not be the bulb. But as it will be cheaper to replace the bulb you may just want to go with Stan's recommendation.

Strangely I had a very similar issue with my previous 2005 54 plate Vogue last year. It seemed much worse in the cold weather. I had the light removed and all connections cleaned and it never played up again. Mine was flickering badly before this, so while you can't rule out anything, my issue was not down to a bad bulb but most likely a bad connection somewhere possibly on the ballast.

Prop, Yes it does seem to have come on in the last couple of days with the colder weather, it did it again tonight but then was fine for the rest of the evening, so you removed the headlight and cleaned the connections?, can I ask what you used to clean them as I might give this a go too while replacing the bulbs.
