Fitting the bar is simple DIY but the electrics need to be done someone with the diagnostic software so that they can "tell" the car that it has towbar electrics - it will then detect the presence of a trailer via the plug and disable the rear parking sensors and freeze the suspension at normal height. |

My 2002 RR did not need telling, it recognizes the fact that the Trailer module is installed and when you plug the trailer lights in it notices the change in resistance. |

Indeed - I thought that all that was done by plugging in the correct wiring loom, rather than diagnostics ! |

No not seen that, but I did try to lower it and it said I could not, due to trailer.

Oh well.. I was told by my friendly independent garage owner that it had to be configured. I watched him do it with Autologic. Maybe you can get away with the car recognising that something is plugged into the towbar wiring and it knows the lighting load will change, that the suspension should be inhibited and the rear parking sensors should be disabled....

Wont the dealers want about a £1k to do this? I was looking at an aftermarket, neat and tidy removable one but fitted by a known/experienced fitter |

I bought my my removable hitch on Ebay for £100 and had Guava in Godalming fit the armature, I saved a few hundred on the full installation. Make sure you get the correct armature for the year of vehicle, they changed in 2006. Contact Guava for a quote. 2018 Range Rover Autobiography
