which car would you buy

I'm looking at upgrading to a later model ffrr and have the choice of a 2007 3.6tdv8 with 108000kms (from private dealer) or a 2008 3.6tdv8 with 142000kms (from LR dealer). Price for 2007 is R359000 and for 2008 R369000

which one would you buy

same specs; one black, one white.

warranty from LR dealer is better than that of the non-franchised dealer

Depends on the cars history. Meaning, has one been loved and one a lease car etc etc what does your heart/head say?

I just looked up how much R1000 is. It's not much. That's about one tank of petrol around here. I would follow CTC's advice and look at the history, carefully. After that, the main dealer with a solid warranty is definitely worth something. You can't fix much for R1000!

If it's still a draw, what colour do you like? I have the black. It looks great, but needs constant cleaning. White is easier to touch up if you go offroading.

If you don't keep your cars long, a 08 will be worth more when reselling than an 07. (Yes, I know the 07 vs 08 changes are minuscule.)

ok some feedback.

i'm not sure if its only me but the standard of both vehicles were not up to scratch. Big Cry

1. non-franchised dealer (black FFRR) - air suspension compressor struggle after a few times to lift the car; different types of tyres between front and rear; in addition the rear tyres are bald on the inside of the tyre

2. franchised LR dealer: car not prepared according to salesman; different tyres on all 4 wheels (though it seems to be new tyres); car kept on "saying" door open without indicating which one - checked and all the doors including the both boot lids closed properly; air suspension error code "suspension will lift when door is closed"; a buzzing noise around 100km/h (62mph) which seems to come from windscreen; black smoke.

doesn't seem to be a lot of 2007-2009 FFR tdv8s in South Africa that is for sale and the few that are for sale seems to be not in the best of conditions.

maybe time to rather look at FFRR 4.2 SC - but eish the fuel consumption :bulb: especially because it will be my daily driver
