ebay scam

check the link from the RRS forum, quite a detailed view of how the scams work, would be easy enough to see how some people new to the internet world as such could fall for such a thing.

Just FYI, there is a scam website called http://www.barbourjacketsbymail.co.uk

It looks very legit with all sort of banners about safe shopping etc. DO NOT USE IT. It looks absolutely authentic and even claims to be part of Smith & Morris, a legit Barbour supplier. They will take your card details and abuse them. I have spoken to both S&M (no sniggering in the back!) and to Barbour and they have confirmed it is a scam site.

^ Now that is scarey... There is nothing on that site that rings an alarm bell to me.... Still don't understand why sites are not taken down by the authorities as soon as it is proven to be fake. Previously..

I once worked for an international bank and legal were in a constant fight to close scam sites that just lifted ours.

Always be suspicious of sites that have no address or telephone number. In anycase, even if they're legit I just don't use sites that don't publish this information as how do you complain or persue them without that?

absolutely spot on Kurt. That's the first thing to look for.

If you go into the delivery and other "back" pages of the site, you will see the English starts to fall apart which was what set my alarm bells off!
i.e. If your goods lose on the road, you can trace the shipping company.

Also traced the site registration and it was in china, jinuan province or somewhere.

This is why a good Anti-Virus software system is worth it's weight as this was the message i got when i tried to access this site.

Luckily not been caught out myself but SWMBO did have a very nice email from a long lost relative in Nigeria who left us £1.4 Million and all we have to do was send our Bank details to get the money transferred, never thought Uncle "0gochukwu Thomas Jones" cared so much
