2003 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Epsom Green
L322 sat Nav up grade

Hi having just got our Beast the sat navs driving us nuts after having new cars for the last few years mostly with built in modern units it seems a bit dated
After a search on here it looks like the unit can be replaced with a BMW mark 4 DVD unit which gives a greatly improved version, I know we will also require the DVD from BMW as well
Are any of you using this upgrade and if so could you post some pictures of the screen showing new graphics etc or even better still if local to guildford surrey meet up so we can see it in action
Many thanks
Lee & Trish

I have done it. Well worth it. Would have thought it'd come with a nav DVD.........they are Navteq anyway.

There is plenty on here about it.

For pics and some info here ;

Happy searching.......

I take it you have a non touchscreen system ?

You could do with filling out your car profile so we know what RR you've got.

I've done this and it's a very easy and worthwhile upgrade. Don't expect 'modern' though - it's still ancient technology that you will hate and will drive you insane.

Plenty of screen shots, manuals, videos on the web if you just search for bmw mk IV navigation, otherwise you're welcome to come and visit me in Switzerland for a demo. If you give me some notice I will even have some toblerone ready for you. Thumbs Up

I've upgraded mine to the BMW iV - whilst not an amazing state of the art solution it is a worthwhile upgrade - although as Kurt has said it will still drive you mad. I'm on the outskirts of Reading during the week if you want to see it in action. Current Fleet:-
2018 Discovery 5 3.0 HSE
2021 Ford Ranger Wildtrack
2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt 5.0 V8

I've done it too. 2nd hand units can be expensive so try and find one with a fault. Most of the time, it's the laser that's gone but you can buy an upgraded one off eBay for around a tenner.
I paid £80 for mine and fitted the laser myself. It's an easy job to do but you'll need torx bits to do it properly.

Here's some screen shots

"Please proceed in a upside down-wardly direction".............

You will lose the "Off Road Navigation" option and the voice is not as nice in my opinion.

Depending on where the MK4 unit has come from, you could have a BMW start up screen, instead of a Land Rover / Range Rover one, but you can modify that if needed.

On the up sides, you will be able to search 5 digit postcodes (7 digits with an aftermarket mod - I've not done it) and there is a 3D perspective view.

It also manages to keep up with you as you drive up the road. The CD based system struggled as the data was not read off fast enough.

There may be other bits, upgrade wise, which I started a thread about some time ago ;

Good Luck

Scotland 2017 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Loire Blue

I have an, ahem, "backup copy" of a BMW 2010-11 Pro Europe DVD with 7 digit postcode search and speed and red light camera POIs, which may or may not work in the BMW Mk4 DVD as fitted to some RRs.

I've also got an original LR 2005 DVD, part number YIW500013.

If anyone wants them, send me a PM and I'll mail them FOC. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
Had- 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black
Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey

Those photos look more like the 'woman reading a map upside down' version than the Aussie one to me Wink
