So swift cover had no problems in accepting the mods either?

Being with them myself i find the cover cheap and adequate however they do charge for pretty much every extra, and have a list of mods which are acceptable and a list of ones which arent. Cant remember whats on it though. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I was with Swiftcover previously, with my 4.4, no mods apart from LPG - which they didn't charge extra for. It's on their website if you click on "acceptable modifications" - IIRC you are told you must have a cert, but they don't ask for it.

Our rear upper tailgate, rear arches, rear nearside wing and driver's door (a new door) have all been in the MD Bodyshop this year for painting. It's through no neglect on our part, is all approved/ has been done properly and does not devalue the car. If anything, does it not show a diligent owner has had the car and makes sure things in need of correction, get done properly when required?

NMJ - That's a nice - original - black coloured RR and if you decide to 'only' go for a facelift, the 2010MY facelift will doubtless compliment the existing black very nicely... And if you leave the car as is, it will still be a very nice RR

Totally agree. If you were really worried about cost you could always do facelift yourself and get the parts from Craig or Dan You already have the wheels vents and mirror covers done so one third of the way there  Present :2008 TDV8 HSE

I'm not talking about a quick blow over to make good any panels - i'm talking about a change to a completely different colour. .

@Steptoe - I got the point you were originally making and tbh, I'd probably shy away from a car that had a paint colour change but your post reminded me that potential future buyers (there have been posts on the forum) have said they would only want a car with completely "original" paintwork which, whilst nice and pure of thought, is perhaps overly idealistic, especially when buying a car a few years old with known corrosion issues to, for example, the tailgate and rear arches.

No issues about devaluing mine when I painted it... That's why I bought a Cat D, I will be keeping it for three or four years, way I see it, it won't make a vast difference by then anyway. I paid £8500 for a 61k miles late 57 plate 2008 model year S/C, and spent about the same again to get it exactly how I want it, doing a lot of the work myself tho.... I really wanted a Fuji White 2010 look one, but they were well out of my price range.

My opinion; I would rather see a car with an excellent quality repair than an original rusty/ tatty one. It's a sad fact that they rust in certain places, the tailgate being one obvious example. BTW, mine had a tailgate re spray at Stratstones Leeds - it's noted in the corrosion history in the service book- three months before it had the bump that led to it being classed Cat D, and the rust had shown through already, plus the MD paint job was truly awful - and they had put the tailgate letters back in the wrong place!! I don't think there will be many knocking about at 5-6 years old that have not had some work, even if it's only cosmetic.

Re climbing plant.

Its a wysteria, so less of a clingy climber like ivy and much less invasive. It winds itself round wires on the side of the house rather than eating into the brickwork. As a Builder/MRICS im all too aware of the perils of ivys and the like, and nomally its kept in good order but it Needs a good trim at the moment as it hasnt been done this year. and is getting a bit out of hand.

But thanks for the comments on the car chaps. A front end is about all it needs, maybe a colour change is a step too far? As you say Googsy i already have the wheels, and vents the mirror covers were originally chrome and hav been painted😜, so really i need

On the 2010MY, is the rear bumper the same?

The same cosmetically to look at but a different bumper... Takes the later 09> parking sensors in moulded holders rather than removable holders in the pre 09 bumper...
