Because they're cheaper to buy secondhand, mainly due to the significantly worse fuel economy. However, resale value is also proportionally lower so if money is a consideration, diesel is probably cheaper in the long run. That said, I bought a petrol D3 because I don't like the mess of diesel, especially now our local garage (with attended service) has closed down, servicing costs are lower, I get the nice V8 burble and it's smoother & quieter than my old TDV8 Vogue ever was. |
