Renting a flat

Have/do any of you rent out flats ?
Is the return worth the investment or what would you's recommend as a good investment to make money ?

Me..
What area are you thinking of Brian? If you are buying as a buy to let you will probably need to put up 25% of the price. Previously..

Been looking at north Lanarkshire, deposit would be ok but I've heard a few stories about renting and not sure if its worth it

I would say they are excellent investments, if you buy at the right price. Last one I bought was a repossessed property in tollcross. The estate agents in the area, Cumbernauld road, have plenty on their books. I made a really low offer and they jumped at it! If you don't ask !.. Financially it is definitely worth it. Purchase price to rental income return I would say the best value is what you are after, a 2 bedroom flat.
Pm if you want figures. Thumbs Up Previously..

Right been thinking about this again, if I put a 25% deposit down on a new build flat near me and take a buy to let morgage to rent it out for say 15 years in the hope my daughter who is 2 can get the flat or cash out of it eventually. How would it go with paying tax over the time it's rented out and will she have to pay tax if I then give her the flat say in 18 years time ?
