that looks sh Censored te.

Thought for a minute it was a really crap scale model of the old disco 4. And the "DISCOVEREEEEY GETOUTTAMYWAY' badge is too much even for me, and I live in Cheshire! What a dog's breakfast... replace it already.

Land Rover appear to be very good at this.
Making a complete cosmetic pigs ear out of "run out" models. The Freelander 2 is another classic example - what a mess. God only know what a run out Evoque will look like . . . Shocked

On a serious note, I can appreciate the new tech stuff on the car (apart from optional low range - can't get my head around that one ?) on what is unquestionably the most versatile Land Rover product ever.

But the cosmetic adornments are just nonsense. And as for putting D I S C O V E R Y on the bonnet - pointless.

It smacks to me of running out of ideas - just like the epidemic of utterly useless front fog lights that are now on virtually everything. Just because car designers can't be bothered to do something different . . . . grrrrr

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

Discovery is on the bonnet because Discovery is going to be a Range Rover-style sub-brand offering several vehicles.

Still looks rubbish, obviously.

Notice how many models always look best (retrospectively) in their first guise?

The D3 hasn't really looked better, although the D4 updates did give it another dimension, but made it less practical with all the colour-coding.

There are exceptions. The '07- FF, for example, is about the best looking of all FF's in my opinion.

The original RR was never bettered in 3-door form looks-wise. The original 5-door got worse in looks as it went further upmarket.

The Freelander 1 with the roll-down rear window and bullet-type rear lights (very Series-ish). Shame it was killed by the me-too F2. Si. <This is my name.

I eat rat poison.

A man ain't truly been insulted until he stands buck naked in front of a woman and she didn't even notice. Or care.

Well I quite liked the colour coded run out Disco 3s from around 2009 tbh Embarassed

Yeah, the 07 Facelift was a marked improvement both for the exterior and interior of the FF

I liked the Original Classics, but then I'm also a fan of Soft-Dash run out cars for some reason!

The Original FL was much better than the FL2, that's true!

The Disco 2 was more resolved than the 1 i reckon..

The 2006 L322 facelift was good, but the original version's time will come. I think it's going through that stage where it can look a bit uncomfortably out of fashion against what's currently in favour (particularly the vertical join between lights and grille). Still my favourite version.

Original Discovery 3 is a great design.

You really think this latest Discovery facelift is an improvement on the original?

Absolutely, but objectively I'd be interested to know why - it's just busier, fussier and flashier for no good reason.

A bit like the eBay stick-on parts people had suddenly got a bigger development budget.

I guess its a bit less Tank like and a little more sophisticated in a Range Rover sense. Furthermore the interior just gets better with each revision. I was never a major fan of the original front end. Perhaps that's why I prefer Range Rovers Thumbs Up

The interior has certainly become more luxurious, whether that's a good thing or not depends on how you'll use it.

Glitz and fussiness is the opposite of sophistication. Pared-down functionality is surely the correct approach. Who wants a car that looks like a council house at Christmas?

Its not just more luxurious (good thing) its also much easier to use and feels much better quality (good thing). The seats are much better and the leather better (Good thing). The electrics and AC are miles better (Good thing)

The original D3 Interior/Centre Consul/dash was not well though out (Bad thing) and in my opinion not that user friendly (bad thing) and as for the leather!

The D3 style was iconic and visually impressive I just prefer the more modern look.

I'm not a fan, but it does have more purity of design than the FL2 which has become a bit of a pastiche

all the glitz and fussiness also contrasts with the supposedly minimalist interiors of the new cars... confusing design language Courtesy of Gerry McGovern
