You have inspired me John to get back on my bike. Going to try a mile or 2 this weekend. Have to be offroad as its the Leuchars airshow and roads are a no-go.. Previously..

Get on yer bike CB... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

When I started back on the bike 6 months ago I managed a full 2.8 miles, my speed was 13.4mph and by the time I returned home I thought I was going to die. I had been really pushing it that first time and my speeds went downwards for a few weeks after that initial ride to 11mph. 6 months on my speed hasn't risen up as much as I would have expected, on a flattish route I can average around 19/20mph but the route I did yesterday which I intentionally incorporated the 7 cat4 climbs was an average 15.4mph. It doesn't sound much but when you take into account the amount of climbing that was involved then it wasn't too shabby. I was expecting to feel fatigued this morning but for some reason I'm not, so I must be taking it too easy Laughing Laughing

BITD I could easily average 24mph but I really can't see me ever reaching that some 25 years on Big Cry

On the health side of things I have managed to shed 26 lbs, not that I was ever massive to start with but at 5'6" and 11s 6lbs it was verging on being a Fat FFRR owner. The weight loss isn't just down to the cycling, in fact I don't think the cycling has had much input on the weight loss as I'm not really doing a lot of miles. The loss is more to do with changing my eating habits, cutting out all the nice things and eating healthy leaves and seeds and horrible things that I would never touch before. Funnily enough it's not as bad as it sounds once you get into the way of it...tweet tweet.

Let us know how your weekend goes CB Thumbs Up

Heres Mick on his last bike ride....

Notice how is keeps saying he has poor signal to get onto the forum and that he wasn't paying for a tortoise to pedal him along....

2017 Range Rover SVAutobiography 5.0 SC V8 Indus Silver

That;s really good going!

I'm toying with the idea of getting a bike as one of my engineers is a Velominati type though I'm 9 years older than him.

(I'm also 6'4" and almost 16 stone 17% BF) Do they make XL tyres (lol)

Planning on starting at the gym next week when I'm back home to try and regain my halcyon 2nd rower days

All in all that's some bloody good climbing and excellent weight loss- Well done Thumbs Up

EDIT: WISH I as 13% BF! Sad

I reckon 4 miles Embarassed .. It was Leuchars airshow day, so we headed up the hills. We really are lucky where we live with the amount of farm roads and tracks we have to cycle. Anyway, at least I got out and I did enjoy it. It was a bit of a bonus stopping to watch the planes every now and again... Not for a breather, because I am so fit, but just to take in the views..
