The problem with the Ranger is that it lives in the F-series shadow. Look at the imitation styling in the same way that the Capri emulated the Mustang.

^ Agree but having lived with a full size US truck they are just not practical in the UK. 10 MPG and impossible to park in towns it just gets annoying in the end...

Mick doesnt care about MPG and parking. His butler takes care of all that :p

I think the Raptor is a great choice - fast, comfortable, roomy, easy to drive and plenty of space for dead tenants or tools / equipment in the rear loadbed.

Going back to the VW Amarok, it's the name that gets me. I mean, when you tell people you 'drive an Amarok', you're opening yourself up for a huge load of explaining about what an Amarok actually is. And poeple usually expect you to say 'Golf' when VW is mentioned. You tell people you drive a Range Rover and it's instant acceptability and you move on.

I agree wholeheartedly with the VW can not name a car issue. They just can't. Toe-rag, I am rock or like Top Gear noticed the Toearegs (terrorist group), the P(o)lo, another terrorist group. The VW foetus or futon, they really are not doing well.

Since I haven't driven any of the cars mentioned (apart from the older Isuzu (BAAAAAAD) and the Hi-Lux (bouncy !)) I can't comment. I like the looks of the Raptor (a lot), the Ranger isn't that bad either (IMHO), the Amarok not a great looker but it tested well (in several SA test).

But getting shot of the FFRR I think will be a big mistake Mick. Why not get a Raptor for work and a 5.0 SC for fun (I believe Gary has a nice one in AB guise kicking around)  MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!
