Just picked up new discovery 4 and although it has led lights built in they don't come on when the car runs...

I've looked through the menu but before I consult the manual I wondered if anyone knows whether these are cosmetic and don't function or if I'm being a div and can't see how to operate.

Vogue MY 2010 is the same - they are side lights and come on only with the switch. New model has them as daylight running lights.

I'm not sure if I like them or not - perhaps not used to them yet?

On a 2010MY L322 onwards they can be switched on as DRL's with a faultmate

Are you sure the Faultmate switches the LED's on as DRL's as the IID tool switches on the main beam at 40% strength or the headlamps only... No option for LED's

As above, though you can turn on the the Scandinavian or Canadian DRL option as well with the Faultmate  FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Well according to that link the disco forum say they work in place of side lights although mine seems to have side lights and not drls...most cars have options to turn these on and off via settings I thought. 2009 Vogue TDV8 Nara Bronze

Are you sure the LEDs are physically there as some of the lower models do not have them and have the standard sidelight

All Disco 4 headlamps look the same but only top model cars have the LED's... Does your car have side light bulbs? If so the LED's are dummys. If you turn on your side lights and the LED's come on then "voila"

The iid tool can switch on the led lights to come on ON their own when the ignition is switched on.
